I have a baby who’s always been very wriggly and passionately hates being made to be still for anything, even for ten seconds. When I would complain about how hard it was to cut or clip her nails without drawing blood or leaving sharp pointy bits of nail (with which she would then scratch me or often HER OWN FACE, especially near the eyes, argh), other mums said stuff like “oh have you tried a nail file, it’s much easier?” Reader, I had indeed also tried that, we didn’t get very far … even the idea of getting her to chill out long enough so I could file her nails was ridiculous tbh. I really envy mums of babies for whom a nail file is a realistic option for doing their nails. Then I found these. GAME CHANGER. The short blades mean I have excellent control over the cut itself, and can trim the nails quickly without leaving pointy corners. Although the process is still (sadly) a bit of a fight, it’s now one that gets done once a week without any injury resulting from either scissors/clippers, or subsequently from a poorly-done job! Can’t recommend them highly enough. They are not the cheapest baby nail tools you could buy, but they do represent excellent value for money. (Also, little tip, you can sharpen them when needed by cutting into a little bit of folded or scrunched up tin foil.)

Ordered it for our newborn. Life and game changer as the tiny scissors is perfect even for the newborn’s delicate nails. We had to cut his thumbnails almost immediately as they were super sharp and dangerous and I was very happy to see how precisely this little scissors worked. As the handle itself it’s quite small I wouldn’t say it fits easily for large handed people, but for me it was very easy to use. The nail file is ok. It helps to soften the sharp edges just enough so that those tiny hands don’t scratch their face or the breasts meanwhile breastfeeding, lol. Highly recommend it. One of the best buys I made for our baby.

Perfect for newborn. Just remove the cap as it’s small and has choking potential. No hole in it.

So much easier to cut baby’s nails with the short scissor blades. Trying to line up the long scissor blades took too long and the hand was inevitably pulled away before anything could be trimmed. These are an absolute life saver!
