We usually have a lot of bread in the house between sandwich bread and hot dog or hamburger buns, the counter can really get overloaded. I had a basket everything would sit in but it would just get so overfill and the counter would look cluttered. So, I started search large bread baskets. I actually found one similar to this with a different lid and planned to purchase it. Then, I found this one. I liked the cutting board lid and the look. I don't use the lid as a cutting board but is is a nice option. It fits so much in it and it looks great on the counter. It is also a small US company so that was a huge plus too. It does come with a thank you card which is a nice touch from the company. It has several holes in the back so it isn't air tight. I haven't had any mold issues that I feel are caused from being in this bread box. The one almost used package of bread that had some mold bad been in the container for a while since we didn't use a lot of bread that week. The bread is fresh and doesn't get stale or anything inside this box. I am very happy with this box and to be able to clean up my counter!

First, I sanded and painted gold over where it says “BREAD” on this, because it is apparently impossible to find a container that is this size/shape that *doesn’t* say “Bread” on it, but I didn’t actually want to use it as a breadbox, I wanted it to store dry cat food.Which leads to the biggest issue I have with this product: it has holes on the backside for air flow. So I guess it would be great if you DO want to use it as a breadbox, but if you’re looking for an airtight container, this ain’t it.I ended up taping over the holes on both sides to block airflow. (Clear airtight plastic tape on the inside, and blue painters tape on the outside, which I painted white to match the container.)Sanding and painting this product was pretty easy, and I’m mostly pleased with how it looks now.Just annoyed at the misleading product info: (1) that there is a picture of this product with the lid off that clearly shows no holes, and (2) that there’s an answered Q&A that says this product IS airtight (which is why I bought this one instead of one of the dozens of other similar products on Amazon).

Cute box but a brand new loaf of bread molded within 3 days! I’m returning this product.

It's been some time since I've had a bread box in the kitchen. Finllay got tired of the loaves and bagels laying everywhere and started looking. This one is not to small, not too big, it's just right. It has a retro look to it and fits nicely on my kitchen island without taking up too much room. The lid makes a handy bread board also. And how nice that the seller included such a warm thank you note in the package. I strongly recommend this item.
