Could be done in a dozen pages
This book attempts to introduce "Montessori" for most of its pages, and then a little bit of Chess (and a lot of boring phrases we are supposed to use exactly, as if our children are made out of china, or a parent doesn't know just how to motivate a particular child). These earnest "Montessorians" or "Montessori-inspired" folks are so precise in their dogma it is nauseating. Waste of time and money. Just pick up a chess set and start to introduce your child to the various parts of the game (courtesy, not moving pieces when not your turn, how each piece works, etc.).

We opened the beautiful woven bag that held the chess pieces
I suggested playing chess to my grand daughter who just turned 5. We opened the beautiful woven bag that held the chess pieces. One by one she took them out and we named each one by their traditional name used for the game. We placed the pieces on the board where they would be in the game. I asked if she would like to see how the move. She said yes, and as we moved each piece she named it without me saying anything. After a few moves she said i know how to play it my way. Jazz then proceeded to set up the pieces in an orderly fashion, she gave one to me and two to her, then told me how to move when it was my turn. We went through various set ups which were designed by colors and shape of the pieces. I followed Susan's suggestion on how to play with children. It was very helpful in to how to listen for them to explore and love what we were playing. Her grandfather walked by and said you still playing chess, Jazz 'Yes, and we are both winning". The game went on for a half an hour.Thank you Susan for the enjoyment of playing.

An excellent approach for introducing chess to young children.
An excellent introduction to helping young children learn about chess - or indeed anything else. The concepts in this book can be applied to learning any subject area or skill. If you are not familiar with the Montessori approach to teaching, this makes an excellent little overview. I read through it in an evening as I found it reminded me of so many important concepts that are easily forgotten.

Beautiful book!
Yes! this book can tell you how to teach chess to any child in a Montessori way.But if you look past the chess, you can use this book as an insight to teach your child anything using the Montessori method. The book takes the game chess and introduces it to the child using⭐️ Grace and courtesy of the pieces the social aspect of the game.⭐️ practical life- polishing/dusting the pieces, setting up the environment⭐️ Language- 3-period-lesson of the names of the pieces⭐️ Learning to play the game building up one difficult at a time. This is the essence of Montessori.I have used this book in teaching my son chess. I did not know how to play and after a few months, we can play a simple game together. But if you are not interested in learning chess this book is still a gold mine of knowledge and insight into the Montessori method and how to offer any skill to a child. Don’t pass it byAnd as always this author welcomes you into the world of the child and how to help spark their interest.

I love how the montessori method introduce the chess. Even though the chess stages of learning are introduce for toddlers. These stages can be applied to teach chess to adults or eldery people. Thanks! I would apply these method to my clinical practice.

The book is excellent like the other titles from the author
The book is excellent like the other titles from the author. I bought the kindle version. The trouble with it is that in many pages pictures are placed over text making certain parts of the book unreadable.
