Best Pour Over Coffee Filter
I love these filters, they are sturdy and thick and hold their shape during the pour if you do not mess with it once it gets wet. I think the wave is the secret to excellent pour over coffee! I use them in the stainless steel Kalita Wave185 and in the ceramic Kalita 102 ceramic dripper. Works well for both. Although I do prefer a non bleached filter, there is no bleached taste with these. I did try using a #2 non bleached flat cone filter but it does not work as well as the wave filters. I will continue to purchase!

Genuine Kalita Wave filters, are they worth it?
I’ve tried several size-compatible alternatives, but none were, well… wavy. They’re mostly accordion folded on one or both sides so they’re HALF-wavy, or full on creased. I’ve come to appreciate that creating this filter with a smooth wave is likely a bit more complicated and costly than standard filters. Is it worth twice the price of other OEM filters? That’s for you to decide. I say yes it is. I like the detail. It’s what makes the Wave special, sets it apart. It’s a small distinction with a real difference. I roast my beans, so in addition to playing with roast levels and blends to find the coffee’s possibilities, all the brew methods absolutely change how a particular bean ends up in the cup. When I use other filters with the Wave, it affects brew time so I have to adjust grind and my recipes accordingly, so it’s clearly it’s a difference that shows up in the cup. Plus, to me the point of having many different pour over setups is to explore what makes them unique, and in the Kalita Wave’s case that includes their uniquely wavy filters. I do buy the 3-pack to lower the cost under $10 per 100, and even then they’re the most expensive filters I buy for any brewing method by more than 2x, even original Hario V60 filters from Japan. But if I’m not brewing the cheapest possible cup of coffee, I’m searching for the cup that suits the day ahead!
