A great book!
We are big fans of the Tallulah series, which includes this book as well! The story and artwork are always enjoyable; a pleasure to look at and read.I enjoy the fact that the main character, Tallulah, comes across as human in each story. She has a strong drive to do well in whatever task she takes on, but she is not above messing up and (ultimately) learning from those mistakes as well.

Great story!
Bought this for my 4 year old niece. She LOVED it! Being a former teacher and a 15 year ballet student, I appreciated the messages put forth in the story as well as introducing a child to some basic ballet moves and foot positions.

Cute
My 2 & 5 year old love the story! I only bought it to match my daughters pink ballerina bedroom to sit on her shelf, but it's read frequently. I love that each book in this series has ballerina techniques and moves on the inside! Very adorable!!

Super book
I ordered this book from Amazon.com because I wanted a little girl's ballet story book as a gift for one who lives in England, UK. As she is ballet mad there is no doubt she already has quite a few ! I did not want to replicate any so I ordered from Amazon USA. The book arrived in perfect condition, it is an enchanting story with simply charming illustrations. I am very pleased.

Pass
This was not as great of a book as I had hoped. The child had an inflated head. She threw a fit and didn’t have to apologize to the teacher or her class but instead, was welcomed back after her tantrum. The opportunities to teach a lesson were overlooked. Yes, practice is important but so is being respectful.I would not gift this to anyone else.

Not thrilled with Tallulah's behavior toward other children
I know Tallulah's supposed to be adorable, precocious, etc., but to our family she comes off a little spoiled, superior, and judgmental. Now, I do know she's getting a lesson in patience and perseverance and I applaud that... but I just don't want my daughter emulating her behavior with others. When I read the book with my daughter for the first time she disappointedly asked me, "Can't boys dance ballet and wear tutus, Mama?" She always says she feels bad for the boy, and she and I both picked up on the Tallulah's teasing tone. It's the same teasing, judgmental behavior she engages in toward the end of the book when another little girl dances in her tutu for Tallulah - she reacts with disdain as if the other girl is inferior in her skills. I am fine with her frustration at not getting the tutu as fast as she expects - but the meanness toward other children - I really don't want my little girl treating other kids like that (judging, making unfavorable comparisons, etc.). So unfortunately we don't read this one as much as other books in our collection. Frankly, if Tallulah were my little one we'd be having some gentle discussions on how to be kind and accepting of other peoples' differences.

Ballerina
My daughter loved Ballerina by Peter Sis so much that I had to buy Tallulahs's Tutu. This story is fabulous. It is about a little girl who spends her time in ballet class doing plié, tendu, round de Jambe, and passé in hopes of getting a tutu. What she learns is that it takes time and practice to earn her tutu, you just simply don't get one for joining ballet. From first position all the way to fifth position she learns all about earning her tutu. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is charming. I absolutely love this book!

) Beautiful drawings and ballet vocabulary fill this book
My daughter's name is Tallulah, so I couldn't help myself. She is only 2 years, though, so the storyline is a little beyond the things she cares about (persistence pays off, putting in the work, etc.). However, my 4-year-old niece loves it :)Beautiful drawings and ballet vocabulary fill this book, too.

Je recommande.I bought this for my 4 year old because she has become obsessed with ballet since she saw the French animated movie "Ballerina" at daycare. Not being able to find her dance classes for her age, I liked that this book demonstrates the different positions and uses the vocabulary one would encounter in a ballet class. The story is cute, the little girl is impatient to earn her tutu, but works hard and get it at the end.I recommend
