great product ..so far used it on insect bites with allergic reaction ..helped almost instantly for the itch ...and the usually heavy swelling was stoped and healing of bite site was incredible quick. Not lying the smell of the product is a bit strong but I take this anytime for the relief of the allergic itch and swelling! ;) thank you for this great product ...I will buy this product again !

I actually asked a MAN about his skincare regimen because I was so impressed by how beautiful his skin was. I would say he was in his late 50’s. He told me about this product and even had a picture on his phone and sent it to me. He said it cleared up a skin cancer he had on his arm completely. He said he used it on his face as well and that it takes consistent use over time. I have problems with my skin being very dry and there is never enough moisturizer in the world that has helped other than Curel Ultra Healing. Anyway, I was finally brave enough to put this on my face. I do it at night before bed. I smell like a campfire. It is very very strong, but I feel like I’m camping and it kind of grows on you. I have to put a towel on my pillow so I don’t get it the ointment all over it. For the past week my skin has been very smooth and not dry. I actually got up this morning and didn’t even have to put lotion on my face (I usually wash my face again in the morning but didn’t today)I went straight to my makeup and never needed lotion all day. It’s brown and greasy at night but my skin absorbs it all. It’s not convenient having to put it in the fridge, but I take it out in enough time to warm up before I use it. I like it and will continue to use it since my skin is loving it.

Yes, as many reviewers have noted, the pine tar in the product has a distinctive campfire "fragrance". But the product would not be an effective healer without it. This ointment can pull out splinters, thorns, heal blisters and boils and even skin moles and skin tags. Some have even used it with success for brown recluse spider bites. Just be patient and give it time. It might take weeks to work on deeper skin issues like moles so keep reapplying. I used tough strips band aides to cover the ointment because they hold up during showers. I prefer this ointment to the stronger black salve with the zinc chloride and bloodroot. Dr. Christopher's ointment is far gentler, is not painful to use and resolves the problem.

This is a milder black salve which pulls out infections. In the past I have used it for insect bits and slivers. Recently, I had a mole removed. A red ring around the area appeared and I was feverish. I applied this salve because I had it on hand. Later I bought Dr. Christopher's cayenne pepper ointment to apply to the sore with black salve over it and a plastic covering the bandage. (It may stain clothing. Soak in cold water with oxy... before laundering with heated water. Do not put stained clothing in dryer as it will set the stain.) After about six weeks it started to itch and so I stopped using both. Then I went to a dermatologist who obtained an additional sample of tissue, from whom I have not heard anything yet, as for results to see if it was cancerous. I have yet to have my stitches removed. (All medical procedures have some risk, right? With a little reading on cancer salves, blood root and zinc based formulas are risky if you don't know what your are doing, and perhaps even if you do. My dermatologist said they leave traces. I was impressed that he actually was familiar with black salves.)

According to what you buy it for it might work better. Just not for me.
