Plugged and played
Made sure to connect FW to TB2 daisychained HD's, and the 3rd monitor's hdmi to the Elgato, then the Elgato to the 2nd of 2 TB2 ports on the back of my late 2015 iMac 21.5", still running High Sierra..powered computer up and the iMac screen and BOTH external monitors were fully functioning independent of each other..make sure mirroring is OFF, and then just arrange your screens: Click the APPLE, go to System preferences, and Displays and work with no issues..

Ethernet not working
Thunderbolt displays and USB devices connected to the dock work fine. However, I never got the Ethernet working (and am not sure the other reviewers have tried) - so if you need this you may want to consider a different device. E.g. I am using the Apple Ethernet to Thunderbolt dongle without issues.Per Elgato tech support, a device called "... Slot 2" shows up in Network Preferences when the dock is connected to the mac. For the first dock I received, this did not happen, although the lights on the RJ45 connector did light up. Elgato then sent a replacement, and the "... Slot 2" device now appeared but the device does not get an IP address (DHCP) from the router. I've even tried manual configuration to no avail. As mentioned above, the Apple Ethernet to Thunderbolt dongle with the same router etc works without problem, so I must be doing something right. The Elgato support (pretty responsive BTW) never gave me any feedback on what was wrong. E.g. they sent me a new device but did not offer any information about the problem. Most likely a software issue (the Ethernet PHY was detected e.g. by the router) - despite my questions I never received an answer if the difference was a firmware update. I've also mentioned that I was running VMWare fusion, thinking this might interfere with the network drivers. Elgato had nothing useful to say about this.In short, while their support is responsive, they do not appear to be too savvy dealing with this type of issue. Perhaps their product needs a bit more testing before release.EDIT: the manufacturer contacted me immediately after I submitted this review (see also comment). Although it's still a mystery why the Ethernet is not working, the manufacturer continues to work on this. Hopefully just a transient problem.

Very Good -Basic, But Good -Daily Wake From Sleep Display Problem
I got this, because it isn't vaporware, and isn't a huge disappointment; which pretty much describes the rest of the offerings out there. It's also cheaper than everything except the StarTech one. I'm not a huge StarTech fan, so Elgato won.I have the latest generation MBP 13 inch Retina.Basically, it works. There are like, NO instructions, and NO indicator lights, so it is really difficult to see if it's functioning properly. At first, I tried plugging it into my already-plugged-in Thunderbolt monitor. No dice. Also, no indication of any issue at all.I was literally writing out a return request when I decided "Why not plug the Elgato in first?".That did it.Did I mention there are NO instructions? The only issue I have so far, is that my second monitor (HDMI), will often not wake up or register after I plug my computer into the dock. This is basically happening every day.The solution is to unplug the second monitor HDMI, then plug it back in. It gets found.

Great Looking Device
Have not fired it up yet, am busier than a one-eyed cat in a fish market. Will write a decent review when I get time to operate the "Elgato Thunderbolt Dock"Need this dock on the newest bleeding-edge "Retina MacBook Pro" because they have too few Thunderbolt jacks.

HDMI not working
The HDMI port does not work. So my external monitor will not turn on. I can get it to work perfect with a display port to mini display port cable plugged from monitor to dock, dock plugged to laptop. Even outputs at 2560x1440 but then I lose the spare thunderbolt port. Reason I bought this device over other company's was the HDMI 1.4 port. I would say if your buying for HDMI please try in the store before you buy. I might be unlucky and have a broken port but I have been in contact with elgato customer services for over 2 weeks now and they can't help...Very disappointed in this product. save your money......

This one device saved me from having to buy separate devices like a Gigabit Ethernet dongle
Worked perfectly!!! This one device saved me from having to buy separate devices like a Gigabit Ethernet dongle, a DAC, etc. Now everything is neat > one single thunderbolt cable connects my Macbook Air (sitting on a Rain Design Mstand) to the Dock (sitting neatly under the Mstand). You couldn't possibly ask for a cleaner and more elegant solution to the need for extra ports and the ensuing cable spaghetti!I would recommend this heartily to everyone... and oh did I also mention the USB ports are powered sufficiently to charge my devices which means no separate need for A/C adapters... woohoo!

Excellent Design for rMBP 15"
rMBP 15" is like a speed car. In order to transfer and backup data fast, I use thunderbolt external drives. This dock allows me to easy connect my external hard disks and displays into one connection make it into Powerbook Duo that is portable to bring to school while powerful enough to edit photos and do heavy programming at home.

Does Not Work Well With Windows 8
This thunderbolt dock works really well with Mac OS Mavericks on my MacBook Air through the Thunderbolt port and it even provided the powered USB port. But here are the downsides to this Thunderbolt dock. 1. There is only one Thunderbolt port, so unless your Thunderbolt device has multiple daisy chain ports, you cannot plug more than one Thunderbolt device. 2. Works very erratically with Bootcamp on Windows 8.1, particularly the Thunderbolt display. Downloading Windows 8 driver from Elgato's web site made no difference. Still does not work. But through Parallels 9, Windows 8.1 desktop works well. 3. It is expensive.
