I bought this for my wife, who is an intermediate guitar and banjo player. I have purchased many of her instruments. I don't buy her the most expensive instruments, but I refuse to buy just plain junk, so I research each instrument to discover what is important for that particular instrument and which brands deliver it best for a budget price. So while she ends up with instruments called "student models", they all have most of the excellent qualities of the far more expensive instruments but without the frills, decorations, signatures of big names, etc.My wife loves playing her Rover. She takes it to work almost every day and plays it during her breaks. (She used to take her full sized guitar, but it was a lot to lug around.) We have taken it on several airplanes. In a standard overhead bin, it is too long to fit in one way so that the doors won't close. But it fits just fine longways along the back of the overhead bin, which allows shorter items to easily be stuffed in front of it (purses, small cases, etc, but not a standard wheeled carryon that would normally fit the overhead bin from front to back.) It was never a problem with any airline personnel, and we have never been questioned about it, even on flights that were so heavily filled that they were begging people to put carryon luggage into checked luggage for free.My wife is no great player, to be sure, but she thinks the sound is wonderful. She has played it for more knowledgeable people, and all think the sound is good. The important thing is that the neck is just like her regular full sized guitars, so she can use the same muscle memory on any guitar.I had narrowed the choice down to this Rover and the other model with the odd, triangular shaped body. She got the chance to see both of them in person, and she was a bit turned off by the odd shape of the other, but liked the way the Rover mimics the same shape as a full size body in shrunken form. From my perspective, a total win. Highly portable, fine sound, great feel when playing.
