and this has been the best method for solving that
I picked this one because of the stainless handle. It replaced the plastic handle version that snapped in half. The blade holder is very tight on this one and if I wasn't already familiar with how to get it on and off, would have thought I was doing it wrong. It may loosen up over time. I have had trouble with thick callous heels that crack in the winter, and this has been the best method for solving that. I use it about once a week after soaking in the tub, then apply one of those thick heel creams. I've only cut myself once when I got a little far from the heal into the arch of the foot, where the skin really wasn't that thick, but it was very superficial and didn't even feel it. I think the only possible time to really cut yourself would be while changing the blade, so I use a thick towel as a buffer to pop the blade holder on and off. The blades are double sided, and I use each side at least twice.

Sturdy! Long walks make for thick callouses
I walk 150 miles or so a month, and my feet need extra attention a couple of times a month. I've earned these callouses with all the walking I do, but I don't want to put them on display like a trophy or badge when walking barefoot or wearing cute shoes. I've been pleased with this callous remover, and have nothing negative to say about it.I've been using a callous remover for many years, and it seems they are getting cheaper in quality and harder to find. Only ones I seem to find in the stores, if I find them, are plastic handled pieces of junk. I came to Amazon to see what they had to offer in steel handled callous removers. Plenty to choose from, and I am glad I selected this product to try. It is sturdy, easy to grip, and most importantly, the design makes it easy to manipulate the pressure needed to get up stubborn thick dry dry skin without fear of snapping in half. **This callous remover works just like any of the others, and as with any callous remover tool, if you don't know what you are doing, it is best left for people who do--please don't cut yourself up, or take off too much at once and end up with sensitive feet. At this point it is user error, not that of the tool. **If you have used this style before and are tired of the easily breakable plastic handled junk tools, then give this one a try. I can sluice off icky thick dry skin from the bottom of my heel, the back of my heel, the ball of my foot, and the sides without feeling like the handle is going to break under pressure. Again, be careful.

3 key points to make foot shaving a success
Pay no mind to websites telling you to steer clear of foot shaving, they are only trying to avoid being blamed if you hurt yourself -- which IS possible if you don't do it right. You can pumice and moisturize all day and never get the results you get with a foot shaver, so follow these directions and you will be happy with your feet.1) Soak your feet in warm water for at least 30 minutes ahead of time. If you swim or use a hot tub, immediately after getting out is the perfect time. If you use a foot bath, add some salt and sit and read or browse the internet. The salt will disinfect and the soaking will insure that all the dead skin is soft and well saturated, enabling the razor to glide smoothly and take it off in wide, long, thin strips. If you don't soak long enough, only the top layer of your skin will be soft, and when your razor encounters dry, dead skin, it will snag or lurch, increasing the chance of you cutting yourself. These cuts tend to bleed a long time. After soaking, DRY YOUR FOOT before using the razor, or the razor will slip on your slippery feet and could cut you. Keep one foot soaking while you work on the other foot.2) The way the razor is sitting in the handle can make a huge difference in how well it works, and this is NOT something you can see. If you are getting narrow shaves on well-soaked skin, take out the razor, clear it of dead skin, and put it back in. All of sudden, when you have it right, you'll be getting much wider, more shallow shaves, making it safer and more efficient. Even after 7 years I still have to do this. There must be tiny differences in how the razor sits in there that effect how bowed the razor is and thus how wide the shave is. You want the razor bowed as little as possible for the widest, safest shave.3) Use a toenail clipper to get areas that the razor can't reach. My grown daughter sometimes get cracks under her little toe where the skin gets too thick. She can clean up these little areas with a large nail clipper, being careful to only clip well soaked dead skin. If in doubt, clip VERY SLOWLY and if there is any hint of pain, back off and try again. When you're done, rinse your feet under the faucet and you're done! You most likely will NOT need to moisturize now, because the dry dead skin is gone and the skin you see is soft, pink and pliable.Do this twice a month and your feet will never crack again.

I was really expecting this to be useful.
Don't waste your money.I remember the good ole' days when you could ask for the razor when getting a pedicure. No more. Oh well.. I suppose it was never really the best solution anyway.. who knows if they are cleaning them or whatever.Anyway, I thought this would be a good solution for my yoga feet. I've been getting calluses pretty much since I started and I hate them. They hurt and they are embaressing.. especially when you have your feet in the air and people are nearby. It was cost efficient and seemed like exactly what I needed. It arrived quickly.. I think 2 days. And I tried it out almost immediately as my feet were killing me.I was so disappointed. I wasn't expecting wonders or anything, but I thought it would at least work. You wouldn't think directions were really all that necessary with a product like this, but after trying it for like 10 minutes I was scratching my head... is the razor in correctly? Is it backwards or something? I passed it off to my other half and let him have at go at it. He came back asking for directions. I googled it and sure enough it was in correctly. I tried switching to a new blade but found the same results.I hopeed to order another product for this issue, I the same order as this one.. a metal foot file by acevivi. I was happy to find that worked well, and better than expected.I was sure this callus shaver was going to work better than that. Anyway I wouldn't recommend this product.

Saved my Hands
Bought this for maintenance on my hand calluses. It honestly saved my hands, the calluses were so thick they would tear out in chunks leaving my hands a painful mess. the calluses were a result of weight lifting and mountain biking.A rock climbing friend told me about this and it allows me to shave my calluses just thick enough to be supple and flex with hands but still provide protection to my hands. I haven't torn them out since. Thank god. This tool is very high quality stainless steel, I've had it for many months without any tarnish.

DISAPPOINTED - bad quality, arrived DIRTY in a sealed package. Writing came off when washed.
I don't usually leave reviews but I wanted to purchase a callus remover to replace one I bought in Germany (which was excellent). These are hard to find in Canada so I turned to Amazon. This mid range one looked to be well made based on the photos. But when it arrived, it looked to have rusty - DIRTY bits on the handle INSIDE of the sealed package (See pictures). So I gave it the benefit of the doubt (maybe it was on the other side of the plastic). I opened it - only to find the dirt stuck on the handle(??). You don't expect something like this is a SEALED NEW PACKAGE. When I washed it, the dirt came off - and so did the BODY TOOLZ writing on the handle. The blades feel stiff, and it doesn't slide in well when changing blades. While the handle has a nice weight to it, the steel top and attachment feel shoddy and gritty, difficult to connect. I want to return it.
