An update to the original, the new Medio backpack has an improved fit and greater visibility for safe, comfortable riding. A super-durable, water-resistant, expandable pack, The Medio is designed for serious cyclists. The internal waterproof drop liner keeps water out, and a back bender flexible cooling panel feels good on your back and keeps you cool. Hits of reflective paneling keep you visible on late night rides, and an improved taper design enables clear over-the-shoulder visibility. Ride it to work, ride it for an overnighter; the Medio is ready to haul.

and has a laptop sleeve in it which is great. I first thought the lack of more compression ...
Update: I now have over 700 miles of cycling with this bag. The white still looks cool, but has some dirt stains and some of the edges are a bit yellowish. Also, the straps and the back pads really soak up the sweat get offensively smelly if you really use the heck out of this thing. Unfortunately it is not machine washable, so I have been using a hose and soap and such on my porch. Other than that, Its been awesome and is holding up great.---------------------I purchased this pack for a 10 mile (each way) daily commute.I replaced a North Face Terra 30 pack. The north face pack was an internal from system with bendable aluminum stays that I had setup to fit my back while I was in a riding position. The timbuk2 pack has a stiff, but bendable, internal plastic back plate that fits the curve of my back on the bike just as well as the North Face pack. Both this pack and the old one had similar advertised capacities. However, this new bag is much easier to pack, and has a laptop sleeve in it which is great. I first thought the lack of more compression straps would suck, but the pack is stiff enough that it doesn't swing all over when its not packed full. Also, coming from a fully padded waist belt I wasn't sure about the thing waist belt on this pack, but it works just great for distance riding.Great things- Fits me well- Has a panel that opens up for overflow, nice for tossing a jacket in there or something that is wet. I open it up at work and put my helmet in there so its out of the way.- Main compartment opens up very wide making it easy to find stuff instead of just blindly digging around like bobbing for apples.- Blue interior makes it easy to find see stuff.- Organizer area with lots of pockets for misc items.- A napoleon pocket on the right side of the pack that is right on your back. Its perfect for my iPhone, easy to get to, doesn't interfere with blue tooth or GPS, and if I can't hear it ring, I can feel it vibrate since its right on my back.A few drawbacks- No drainage port for the panel that opens up for extra storage. I put my raincoat in there after a rain, and there was a puddle at the bottom.- The zippers are the water resistant type, but adding a flat over the zippers would go a long way to making it much more weather resistant.- There are not advanced adjustments for the shoulder straps, all you can do is adjust the sternum strap and how tight the straps are, no space adjustments or height adjustments where the straps meet the top of the pack. The fit is decent on me, but I know for a fact that this pack will not fit the builds of some people over a long ride.- There is a velcro flap with some organizer pockets inside. The pen holder is really slim, some of the pockets are really deep and narrow so its hard to reach small things at the bottom. The real kicker though is that there is not gusset to open that area up. If the bag is packed tight its almost impossible to dig around in that area.- If you pack the bag up, its hard to get into the side pockets. In my opinion the drawbacks are more like a list of improvements that might make a great pack even better. I am very happy with this purchase and its the best cycling pack I have owned thus far.

A beautiful bag
I have been searching for this bag for a long time. It's water resistant, it has a lot of room, and it's very well organized. Plus it does look great and seems to pass second glances when I'm in business meetings unlike other bags with the chest straps and hip straps. Timbuck2 thought these through: hip and chest straps are easily stowed and put back on without removing the bag from your back. Moreover, there are little devices to neaten up strap overhangs like on your adjustable shoulder straps. Complaints? A few: it's tall enough to make me a bit worried about space under airline seats. United has a published limitation of 17" and this bag is about 20.5. But you can always put in an overhead bin. It's very well made, looks like it can survive the hard life and it works for me with room to spare. Yes, the handle on the top of the bag could be wider to accommodate the handle of my roll along bag. Yes, the water bottle side pockets weirdly taper as does the front side zip pocket. But you can't have everything. I haven't been disappointed yet and Heaven knows I hated using a rain cover, which is very inconvenient to put on in a rainstorm. After all these years of trying bags, I think I've found the right one.

A few pockets more...
Very well constructed bag. Solidly built and with a lot of little touches that keep cycling in mind (it even has a bottle opener, for cripes sake). The high density foam pads work well, the plastic frame inside the back keeps weight well-distributed and off your spine, the bike lock holder actually fits my big U lock, the expandable compartment can stow a helmet while you're at work, the strap wranglers fold up the ends of those long straps so they're not flapping in the wind, and the list goes on.What lost this very nice bag the last star in my mind is the way the compartments are arranged. They're fairly deep from top to bottom, but constricted from front to back. I appreciate that this keeps the load close to your back, but as with a long, thin bag, you'll end up with any smaller items stacking on top of one another and digging through what's on top to get to the things on the bottom. This is a small gripe, but it could have been avoided with another smaller pocket or two or even a little more front to back depth in the very front compartment so my bike tools don't look like they're about to burst forth from a moderately full backpack. All in all, a very good bag, especially if you don't plan to carry many smaller things. Also, it looks really cool.

Worth every penny!
I'm not a fan of purchasing backpacks or other bags online because i always want to try them out before i purchase. With the help of reviews, videos and friends, I was able to purchase this bag confident I had a keeper.Purchased this bag for my daily carry. I Started with a Chrome Mini metro during the huge messenger bag wave and still love that bag, but i wanted something that was easier to walk and bike with and protected my laptop more. I looked at other Timbuk2 messenger bags, but i decided i needed to get away from the bulky feeling of a messenger bag. This bag has plenty of compartments (Loving the "Hidden Compartment") It's super supportive on my back and has great build quality. The blue interior is a great accent to the black and helps to find anything deep in the bowels of the pack.Pricey, but worth the purchase. If you're looking for a high quality bag that is waterproof, has great support, good organization capabilities, then this is the bag for you.
