The Solo Girl's Travel Bucket List: Journal and Travel Guide

This is the perfect bucketlist for all travelers!

I'm a bit torn about this because on the one hand I loved the concept and I really think the author deserves every penny for her creativity, but on the other I thought it was...pricey. That said, hardcover bindings are expensive in this day and age and I've seen competitors produce something with less love and an even higher price tag.As the name suggests, this is essentially a blank journal for you to fill in, but it is also a planner and a dream-encouraging little number. Out of the 138 page, for about 50 of them the author invites you to explore your travel plans with fun thought games and prompts all around your travel plans, the rest are left blank for your journal keeping.This would be an ideal present for somebody who is always talking about wanting to travel but whenever you ask them where they would want to go, responds that they don't really know, because the prompts are all around exploring your inner attitudes to travel and developing a plan.

This is a fun, upbeat travel journal to start filling out prior to your trip (which is a great way to amp yourself up before going on vacation). Fill in the food you want to try, the places you want to see, and activities you want to do. Then take it on vacation and record/review all of your experiences. There are also sections for the people you'll meet along the way, which is a nice touch. The book is expensive for what it is, so a more economical paperback version would be nice (especially if you travel a lot and want multiple copies), but the hardcover edition will certainly help preserve those memories. Bonus points for including a David Mitchell quote.

Not only did I read and review the book, but I also checked out the author's very successful website. Maybe the author doesn't need my suggestions for improvements but I'll provide them anyway. I think the bucket list could be expanded, eg. visiting Paris or the Grand Canyon (many places in the USA) were omitted. Events--like one on my personal bucket list--watching the ball drop in NYC on New Year's Eve--were omitted. River cruises? With the author's extensive travels, I would've liked to have read more of her "must see/ must experience" sights--her personal bucket list which has been fulfilled. Yes the book is pricey as a hard cover, and the practicality of carrying it on a trip with me would not happen. Another suggestion would be having the book converted to a PDF where the journals of one's travels could be recorded on one's laptop--on the plane ride home. That would be neat.

I have to say this author is creative. She has put together a cute, fun way to document one’s travels. I think she would sell a lot more of these if she offered it in paperback so it could be considerably cheaper. Personally, I am not one to journal much, but the way this author lays it out in such an organized fashion, she encourages the reader to really think about their plan and even helps one to think about the who, what when, where, and why of travel. It is beautifully illustrated in black and white drawings which encourages one to fill in with color. For one who likes to journal, she has covered about everything a traveler would think about in planning a trip.

"The Travel Bucket List Journal and Planner" is a unique travel planner, journal, and coloring book all in one for women who love to travel. The book created to last ten years is impressive and well organized. There are beautiful illustrations to color, and many suggested locations to visit. With over a hundred pages to fill, the price is about right. A good fit for women/young ladies who travel and keep a journal.

The world is your oyster. I have a friend who travels the world and never documents his journeys. He tells me no one would be interested in them. I beg to disagree.
