These are a no brainer
Every kayak paddle should come with these! Such a small object but makes a huge difference! I used to get soaked from the water running down from my paddle but with these on I can glide across the water with minimal water getting on me.

Didn’t quite fit right
Didn’t quite fit right, I had to bulk up my pedal a little with tape to make these seal completely, even though I’m sure I ordered the right size. It was an easy fix though, and otherwise I’m very happy with them, they are a very high-quality and I think they will last a long time. My paddles are older, but I don’t think they shrink? I wonder if these could have a little more elastic in them so they tighten up Around the paddle better.

Pretty Good Product for the Money
These are cheap, but they work surprisingly well. I had been getting soaked by water running off my kayak paddle when I'd change my stroke from side to side. This is fine in the summer, but not so much fun during colder weather. This product was cheap enough, that I bought a couple of sets on a whim. One set for me, and one for my neighbor, who usually goes along with me on trips on the river. They go on very easy, and we couldn't wait to try them out.We were pleasantly surprised to find out during an early January trip that these little gizmos did keep us dry as long as we used a little care with our paddling. Nothing is going to work 100% in this environment, but I'd say these are a good 90% or better at stopping runoff from falling in your lap as you're paddling. My neighbor and I are both super happy to have these splash guards installed on our kayak paddles, and we'd both highly recommend them to others who want to stay relatively dry when paddling a kayak.

An excellent addition fro staying dry
These are pretty effective. They are neoprene panels that you wrap around the pole and velcro strap on. Depending on how deep you dip your paddle, you may want the splash guards a little farther from the paddle than that shown in the photo to keep them out of the water. Note that the doughnuts shown in the picture do not come with the guards, you should already have those. My experience is that both the doughnuts and guards are prone to slipping around when wet, so I suggest a tie wrap either before the doughnut, or around the base of the splash guard. All in all, when properly positioned, they are very effective in keeping most of the water from the paddling out of my lap and the boat. I'll always have a pair with me.

Does NOT work on "any size or shape paddle"!
I ordered these impulsively because they are advertised for any size or shape and I needed something to help with a one-piece paddle, which is designed for whitewater and has larger blades than anything generally used for rec boats, that I have been using with my open inflatable on flatwater. I can see how these might help when using a standard paddle with narrow blades but they do absolutely nothing for my wider "power" paddle. Even with them jammed tight against the blade; when I set up the next stroke I can see the water streaming off where the curve begins on the edge of the blade, missing the cup by a half inch, and pouring directly onto my lap.For the price I paid they could have added a bit more neoprene and made these cups big enough to live up to the advertising but they would then look bulky on a standard paddle. If they actually did any real world testing to support their claim they probably would have ended up offering size options or simply backed off on the exuberant claims a little bit.If I had a two-piece paddle I would have fashioned cups out of a couple beer coozies or pool noodle but I got lazy leading me to feel a bit of silly when I received these and discovered I could have built a set from neoprene scraps and velcro strips in my parts box. To add insult to injury they dropped the price right after i received them but I will probably glue extended neoprene covers over these to try to make them work. I don't know if these are strong enough to handle the additional weight, though, because the neoprene used is pretty light.

Quality drop from earlier models. (See Update)
These are the only guards I've found to put on my one piece hand made paddles. I had three sets in use and just received two more. The earlier models have a Made in USA tag on the inside, the new ones don't. The earlier ones are made of a shinier, more robust neoprene rubber. The new ones are much flimsier. I won't be ordering any more of these. We see this same story over and over. Price stays the same but the quality drops.UPDATE: Premier has re-formulated the neoprene and is now back to the original quality. They have always been made in the USA. Their customer service response to my complaint was excellent.

Surprise! These things actually work!
I was *very* skeptical when these little pieces of foam and velcro arrived in a smallish, flat envelope. But good things really do come in small packages. We attached these to my paddle at the lake side, and, making a 'yeah, we'll see' face, off I paddled. And paddled. And paddled. I cruised myself all around the lake, admiring wildlife and snapping pictures as I went, and all the while, I stayed dry! My seat stayed dry, my arms stayed dry, and, most amazing of all, my hands stayed dry! Over an hour on the lake, and no prune fingers. Now, I'm a novice, no white water kayaking for me. But hey, if you're on white water, you're gonna get wet, by definition. I recommend these silly things. They work!
