Birds live it!
This bird bath is tailored to birds: it has a rim that’s easy to perch on and the right depth for small and medium sized birds to wade, drink, and splash around in. And it’s subtle natural color seems more natural than flashy ones. I put up a sign “First Month Free” and memberships are flying!

strong toxic smell
it's quite pretty and was well wrapped for shipping. but on opening, before i even got past the bubble wrap, i was hit with a horrible toxic chemical smell.. which i then stupidly smelled the bowl itself to make sure it wasn't just the bubble wrap and oh wow, no, it was the bowl.i emailed the audobon as it has their name on it - though i have no idea if they even know their name is being used...nor if the one i got is one of the ones they actually make. but the one i got, i can't help but think it's going to kill any bird that dares drink from it.UPDATE:i've had it for over a year now and the smell is long gone; as is any potentially toxic coating. given the smell, i was quite wary to use it, but did after a few washes.the little birds adore it. they come by every day for a drink and bath and line up around it waiting their turn to jump in and splash around (usually two at a time, but occasionally a third squeezes in). i upped the rating to 3 stars given the birds' love of it, but still minus two for its initial smell.it has some indentations in the fake stone that makes cleaning a bit more difficult than the smooth ones. but, the smaller birds highly prefer it over other water dishes we have and i'm considering getting another to ease the birdy traffic jam.

Cute
I’ve had this for a while now and I can say that black algae kept really gunking it up and because of its texture and bird at the bottom it’s a total b to clean BUT its cute and kinda deep. So I bought a fountain and put that in there under some rocks and put 3 pre 1982 pennies in it and so far it’s doing good, no algae. For some reason it started to peel around the edges on the inside. But the chain is going strong. It’s a little hard to level but I mean it’s a great little bird bath.

great for the price
This was perfect for what I need and the birds love it.However it is not the most durable - the paint chips and it cracked a bit when I dropped it (well, when the squirrel managed to knock over what it was attached to). It is also annoying to clean because of the design. But I still like it, and so do the birds. It is cute and easy-entry for my porch and I would buy again!

Well designed water dish with QC/QC defects of metal mail hanging hook and tri-chain support
I don't often author reviews; however, when I do it is within the context that opinions are not substitutes for facts. If a product meets expectations, the ratings of the general public consensus often echo my sentiments I stand in silent agreement. If a product exceeds my customer experience and expectations and my opine maintain it warrants five-star praise and perhaps a sprinkle of some constructive criticism. On the contrary, if the product customer experience for me is the inverse and the customer experience is unsatisfactory, then one or two stars is the pretext of my written critique. Now on the to the product review of Audubon Hanging Bird Bath, 12 "I purchased this product in July 2018. The dish is beautifully designed that requires occasional cleaning thru the seasons. Subsequently one year after my purchase the S hook and chain have unexpectedly demonstrated signs of significant rust throughout. Therein lies the product flaw ... "the Included steel chain with gray powder coat finish and one small S hook." Is not manufactured or rated for year-round outdoor use. the S hook and steel chain is a metal alloy that contains iron. Rust is another name for iron oxide, which occurs when iron or an alloy that contains iron, like steel, is exposed to oxygen and moisture for a long period of time. ... But only iron or alloys that contain iron can rust. However, other metals can corrode in a similar way. Countermeasure.... limit (not stop the corrosion by exposing the S hook and tri-chain to a liberal application of wd-40, or purchase another product.

Birds seem to like it! But....
My birds don't seem to be using it as a bird "bath", but more of a drinking receptacle, which is fine, it is their water after all... It's pretty, hangs evenly, and the birds seem to like it. It is easy to clean, and will need to be cleaned daily if you have lots of visitors like I do. It is a good size, and the sides are so that the birds can grip onto; which is why I chose this bird bath, because some of the other bird baths I read reviews on said that the birds were "slipping into the water". No thanks, I'm not into traumatizing my wildlife. My only complaint is that it has been up less than a month and the chain has already started to rust a little. So I would recommend treating it with an anti rust paint before hanging.

Small but the birds do use it, especially the finches. The robins use it as well.
This is a fairly small little plate hanging by some tiny chains, so I wasn't impressed at first. I was worried that the birds wouldn't be able to hang on to the edges of the plate. I hung it up anyway, under the tree in front so that I could watch the birds from the livingroom window. This thing is quite the hit with our little feathered friends. The little finches do a marine-like shimmy down the chains and sip sideways or sit on the edge. They are light enough so the plate doesn't swing much. The robins like it as well, though it isn't really stable enough or big enough for them to take a proper bath. They really go to town in my large pedestal birdbath in the backyard. They will sip from this one. My only complaints would be that it doesn't hold much water, so I need to go flush it and refill it daily and it also doesn't hang quite level, which I am still pondering how to remedy this situation.I am contemplating the purchase of a second one so it looks like a set of assayer's scales out in the front yard.

Worked well for 3 years and still in good shape
I’m buying another one since it’s worked so well. Other brands have rusted or have broken over time but this one is still looking good. Birds like it and it has certainly withstood plenty of weather ( Seattle area).
