Excellent Drill and Driver Tool Set at a Bargain Price
This is a very handy set of well-made usable tools. The two included 12V Li-ion batteries are a little small (which helps reduce the tool weight) but charge rapidly in just a few minutes. These batteries store about half the energy (number of holes drilled or screws driven) of a full-size 18V Li-ion tool so spares are useful. I also have a similar set which contains the same drill and a small 3.375 inch blade circular saw. Together these sets contain 4 batteries and 2 chargers which should be able to tackle just about any home project. The drill and driver are ergonomic, light in weight and very powerful for their sizes. This set is also a bargain when compared to buying just the drill or driver with a single battery for almost the same price. The two batteries alone cost about $70. One last thing: the aluminum case is of superb quality and looks like it should cost as much as the whole set. It contains a thick removable foam section to hold the tools upright. Remove this foam section and the case will hold a lot more stuff, like another drill, bits, batteries, etc.

Buying these Makita's are still worth it for the performance, but they are a great deal on sale.
This is a really good drill set for small jobs around the house, and even at work. I assume not for the heavy duty jobs, but these drills are really light and easy to use; I don't get tired holding these around while working on my projects. It is a powerhouse for such a small battery (12 v Lithium Ion) which lasts a decent time on a full charge. I also don't need to worry about a memory effect, which is great since I don't use it that much; and since it holds a charge for a long time with low self discharging, it is always ready when I need it. The battery has a 3 year warranty, but since Amazon is around it is not much of a concern. It may be worthy to note that these do not come with drill/ driver bits, which I feel is odd for a "set" to be so incomplete, but these drills perform well enough for me to give it the five star rating anyway.

Our fantastic age of cordless tool technology!
This fantastic age of cordless technology is upon us, and these are the original mighty mights that helped lead the way!All the reviews you see on these are spot on. They are great little hand drills / drivers. I'm on my 3rd set, and only bought the 3rd because the first set got stolen. But the point is, if you need more power, it's out there, and you can easily find more powerful drill/driver combos, but not as handy as these little jewels. How many out there can you tuck right into your jeans pocket, not to mention easily in your tool bag? They're so light you can forget they're in there.Bottom line; There are more powerful sets but not in this size. Their power and battery life is impressive. There may be smaller sets, but none that you'd feel good about buying at any price. Bosch has these in this size, and they may be great too, but Makita is proven, and they also give you a hard flight case which to me is an astounding value in cordless tools. Also, the light on trigger helps us old farts see where we're going! I love these and I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't. I cannot recommend them highly enough. WELL DONE MAKITA!

Compact and Powerful
By far the best 12v compact drill and impact set I've ever used. I find myself using these more than my 18v set, only because they are so small and lightweight. I built a pergola last summer with these and the impact drove 3" deck screws (1" pre drilled) without hesitation. I liked them so much I purchased a set for my mother. The case is ugly, and since I have a proper tool box, these tools never see the inside of the case they came with. So I tossed it. I honestly prefer the look of the blow-molded cases that most makita tools come in. It's not enough to knock a star off for. And it's certainly better than a soft sided case. The batteries charge very quickly, and hold a charge for quite some time before needing a recharge. The handle are ergonomically shaped well enough even for someone with hands as large as my own. The only design flaw I see with these (and this seems to be common in some tool manufacturers) is that the chuck on the tool blocks the LED from shining light right were your work point is. I understand why it's done this way to save space, but it makes it sort of non-functional. You have to lightly press the trigger to activate the light, then approach your drilling area so the ambient light gives you enough light to work by. I didn't think I'd use a light on a drill very much, but you'd be surprised. I've used it countless times when assembling furniture or when working in small areas in and under a vehicle.Overall an amazing tool, and well deserves the 5 star rating.

Top notch tools
I couldn't wait to get these tools in my hands. When I got them I charged the batteries while I got acquainted with the features. The case they come in is the best looking and will probably last longer than any other tools of this sort I have owned. This tool kit is very well designed to last. I couldn't believe how powerful the tools are for having such a small size, the batteries are like one D size alkaline, only lighter. Every aspect of these drivers is very compact yet fully functional as well as the most expensive drivers out there.I had a couple of small projects I had saved to do when I got these, using the drill to drill pilot holes in metal roofing and the driver to drive the screws in. They were so light and powerful and easy to use, with a nice balance and fit to my hand that the projects was done in no time. This kit and the drivers are top quality tools. They should last a lifetime if I treat them decent. The charger only took an hour to charge up the batteries. It has indicator lights for whatever state of the battery plugged into it.
