Easy, intuitive, and fun to use
The ditto looper is about as close to perfect as you can get in a simple, no nonsense pedal. The true bypass makes sure when you are not using the pedal that your tone is unaffected. Using the pedal is a simple fun process. No added junk to complicate the situation. Pros: One button wonder. Not overly complicated Easy to use Small package doesn't take up much pedal board room Cons: You have to cycle through a start to erase a loop Is simple, if you want a bunch of add on frills this is not for you. Overall, value for money is incredible, a clean true looper that adds nothing to your sound but gives you everything you need. I would never use anything else.

Inspiring, clever, and with brilliant sound quality, this is a winner.
Years ago, I bought the stomp box looper that was the industry leader's current model at the time. (Fire engine red, rhymes with LOSS, the model number was RC-2.) In the meantime, they've updated that model, so I can't speak about their current quality. With pre-programmed drum loops and the possibility to connect a separate "stop" foot-switch, you'd think that that device would have an advantage over the x2. But as I found out in five short minutes of testing the Ditto, sound quality is everything. The Ditto plays back your loop sounding exactly like the original. You may not even notice that your looper can't do that, until you feel the difference. This is huge. I'd even say my old unit made the sound of the "live" playing worse. With the Ditto, you find yourself playing like you would with a buddy, as opposed to a machine. It's remarkably easy to get the loops to "fit", because it's so intuitive, and the soft touch foot switches allow for quick and precise punching in and out. Having a dedicated stop switch makes a world of difference. Reverse and half-speed are fun, but they don't amount to much more than fun little jokes that you'll play around with for a while before getting tired of them. One possible exception: You might consider recording a guitar loop while the x2 is in half-speed mode, then speed it up and play a bass line, slow it back down, and you'll have something that sounds almost like a real bass guitar (if your playing is precise enough). But it's more convenient and convincing to hook up an actual bass to the second input. Again: The absolute winning characteristic of this thing is the stellar sound quality. I'll give my little red toy looper to a needy nephew and loop on in CD quality. If you've got a good setup for your acoustic, that works like a charm as well, by the way. Hurray.

My picky boyfriend actually LIKES this!
Bought this for my boyfriend who's VERY picky, and he seems to LOVE it! When people complain about loopers, it's usually because they might not get the timing thing - always stomp it on the One beat (as in One, Two, Three, Four) whether you are STARTING the recording or ENDING it. It will work out fine, trust me! My boyfriend doesn't have the best sense of timing either, but once he understood that concept, he GOT it! This is a solid little piece of hardware and works great for practicing your leads over your own rhythm, and helps with your sense of timing. It would be great for any gigs where you need that extra bit of background rhythm guitar as well. It's very well constructed, very solid, and very basic in the way you use it. Whenever you first press the button, it starts recording. Press it a 2nd time, it plays the loop. Press it again and it will record another layer over the first loop, and when you press again, you will now have BOTH of your recordings playing. From what I can tell, there's no limit to the amount of layers, just that there's a 5 minute limit of recording time. Still, that's a LOT - and it will play back the loop forever if you let it! To remove ALL recordings, press it twice but hold down on that 2nd press. Bam, clean slate! Just check out a few youtube videos on the pedal and you'll get it. Anyway, I'm relieved at least that this is one gift I've bought him that he actually LIKES!

Great tool for my purpose
I like the simplicity of this pedal. Took me all of 5 minutes to learn how to use it, and 4 of those were spent looking for the tiny slip of paper the instructions were written on. It's small design fit very easily onto my already packed pedal board. And it sounds great. Well.. it WILLl when my chops improve LOL (garbage in, garbage out) I've been a rhythm guitarist for around 20 years and I feel I need expand my abilities. So, I mainly bought this pedal as a tool to teach myself to play better leads. I record a repeating chord progression and then try to play a lead over the top of it. For this, this pedal rocks. It's quick. It's easy. And it works perfect for what I bought it for. I could see, however, how the one button design would not be ideal for more performance based use. But, I don't think it's something that practice and a volume pedal couldn't help. Just think about your needs before you buy. The one thing that keeps it from being a 5 star for me, is it's tendency to "clip" when dubbiing multiple loops. Get too agro with it and the signal starts cutting out a bit. Again, I think that practice and proper volume control can help you eliminate this issue. (note: I use an acoustic with an active pickup which could be part of the problem as it has had a tendency to overdrive a few of my other pedals.) All in all, it's a fun little tool that gets the job done, quick and dirty. But, as with most things, if's not ideal for every one. As stated before, think about your needs before you buy.

Empfehlenswert!

Slowly getting to grips with the 2 pedals and successfully did a nice 12 bar loop with 3 part harmony, and yes, with a mike overdubbed on the guitar tracks. More interested in a straight 4.5 minute backing drum track used non-loop, and overdubbing from there. It took 1 minute 15 seconds to sync in 45 megs of wav file after I undocked the ditto X2 and will add tracks from there using the drum track as a metronome. The possibilities are pretty exciting as to what can be done with this neat contraption. Reminds me of my recording days back in the 60's. Just love it !!!!
