This man is a loving legend and true Master of himself
I am a novice when it comes to jiujitsu. When I discovered Rickson's site where he trains his wife and explains that jiujitsu doesn't just mean self defense but self growth, I found someone I could learn from. He helped me understand this can be as gentle as yoga or as hard core as you want it to be, but most importantly it is about self discovery. This book is incredible. I've read it 3x already. He encourages me to allow jiujitsu to be my philosophy and path to growth. He is a true master teacher! My husband studied martial arts since he was a kid, he is fully dedicated to jiujitsu and he thoroughly enjoyed this book. The first time we read it together and it created great dialog for our journey to commit as a couple into a lifelong endeavor of this practice. I highly recommend Rickson Academy and Gracie University websites if you are like us, a couple looking for a path into this world.Rickson Gracie.... you... are... THE MAN!

Great book by Rickson! But upon delivery, the spine is falling apart.
Great book. But displeased that the front cover inside is coming apart. I just received this. Again, the work of the book, information contained is great. Just the spine with the book that I have received is already falling apart upon delivery.

Excellent Bio of top BJJ competitor
Good look at the factors that shaped Rickson Gracie during his BJJ career and life. A lot more of motivation and practices that specific fights or techniques. I really enjoyed the read.

Fantastic book, open and honest.
I just finished reading the book “Breathe, A Life in Flow” By Master Rickson Gracie. Even if you are not into Jiu Jitsu or Martial Arts this book is amazing. This is truly a life story of metamorphosis, a full circle story of one man’s life that has effected so many others. This book spoke to me on so many levels at the right time in my life. There are so many relevant points in this book that have nothing to do with Jiu Jitsu. Parenting: there is no instruction manual to parenting; do you best to be a good father. Your children will become who they are going to become not always what you want them to be. Self Actualization: You don’t have to repeat the same mistakes as your father simply because he is your father. Understand your shortcomings; don’t run from them, grow from them. Helping people grow: While many people go to school elementary, middle, high school, or even university many of them do it for different reasons. Some go because they wanted to, some go because they were forced, some go to study math some go to play football. The fact is that they are there, and everyone has different goals. As an instructor it is up to us to help them find their path, not force it on them. There is so much more to this book than the memoirs of an aging fighter. This book is about all of us. I loved this book so much, I bought three copies and I am going to give them out to some students who embrace the lifestyle.

Such an Excellent Book
I've been following Rickson Gracie since the late 90s. I'm primarily an amateur boxer and now a boxing coach, and even though I've only trained in Jiu Jitsu for about a year Rickson's lessons and insight have helped me tremendously in my life. He is like a big brother or father to me and so many people.I learned so much from this book. Especially with how to handle crisis and how to stay true to who you are. This book has helped me with my own evolution as a martial artist in terms of how to approach different types of students and how to transition into older age with martial arts. This book has taught me that its ok to be weak, to be sensitive and to be human. We do the best we can to elevate other people, and to especially help those who need it the most. I'm grateful for this book. I easily read it in 3 days because I was so pulled in to the stories and lessons.
