My take on my new Blues Box Guitar
I first ordered my Blues box guitar a bit over a month ago. When it arrived, I took it out of the package to find that, whoever had made it didn't secure the input jack to the box with a nut and washer. Understand that these do not use a real cigar box that opens. The "box" is a sealed one made of some type of cardboard material. But on mine, the jack for the pickup was floating around inside the box. To top it off, the person saw the error, and just threw the nut into the box through one of the "F" shaped sound holes. I could hear it rattling inside the box. I got that nut out, but the jack could only be removed by cutting the box open, which would destroy the box. And, since being able to plug this into an amp was an important feature, I returned it and had Amazon send me another one. That process went very smoothly and I received my new one soon after. This one, I am happy to say, is a winner! I assembled it easily and without a hitch. I did notice that the tuners seemed kind of cheap and had no sleeve inserts, so, when tuning you can see the center post of the tuners moves in the mounting hole. Yet, they operate fine, and after the strings stretched a bit, they seem to hold in tune pretty well. I did receive the glass slide, and it works just fine. I also like to use a Napa 5/8" 12 point 3/4 drive standard depth socket, part #NT1220. I use my pinky finger, and this works well for me. As set up, it really doesn't work well if I try to finger the notes, but slides are the ticket here. I should say that I am a 70 year old guitar hack that has hacked away since I was about 14. I need to say that, this thing is so darned fun to play, that I have barely touched my 6 stringers since I got this Blues Box Guitar. I paid just over $30 for it, but have seen it go down to $25 on Amazon. It is a steal at these prices. I may buy one for my daughters boyfriend, should the price dip to these amounts. The piezo pickup works fine, and, as in most piezos, it's not very loud. I use a Behringer AD121 Acoustic Driver as a preamp, and that inexpensive unit really gives a boost in volume. I love this compact little cbg. The cardboard box, should it ever get damaged or something, I have a tin box which I think I could transfer to the blues Box Guitar without much trouble. Or, Amazon sells unfinished wooden boxes very close to the same size. One gent with one of these was able to cutout a hole and install a single coil pickup into the original box, and it turned out to sound great. Either way, if you can get one of these like my second one, for $25-$30, it will be money well spent, and will provide you with fun and joy way beyond it's price point. I am going to experiment with smaller diameter bolts, which they use for the nut and bridge, which would shorten the space between neck and strings, to see if it would improve it at all. You must realize that this is a fretless guitar. Mine has about 1/4" space between the strings and the fretboard. Maybe that is too much space to be fingering notes on a fretless. I know that some fretless CBG's can be fingered, as I have seen videos of both Chickenbone John, and Blues Boy Jag doing just that. Anyway, I give the Blues Box Guitar two thumbs up!

Bien para lo que pagas
Cómo jueguete está muy bien, pero para algo práctico más allá de unos cuantos acordes se note lo que pagaste, es un buen regalo que puede funcionar muy bien como adorno para los amantes de la música
