4 stars but a few niggles worth knowing about
So firstly this gets 4 stars because it has sorted my issue out....kind of.I have an auto 2.5TDI VW T4 and have the well known overheating issue with the Auto transmission fluid, especially when towing. This has enabled me to tow without issues again but when i go up steep hills where I could be climbing and whizzing the gearbox for minutes on end, the cooler does not cool the fluid quick enough.Once I level out and go into a not spinning gear, the oil then cools fairly quickly, however on a recent trip towing, the van overheated enough to start the issue of not being able to change gears once again. The unit fitted neatly on the front of my existing coolant radiator and fitted in between that and the front plastic grill. The clips that came with it were a bit hit and miss though. They didn;t really work very well and wouldn't tighten up without slipping so I used zip ties and found better anchor points. Seems to be fine but ideally I need to make some metal brackets to be sure.I first fitted it directly to the gearbox and the ATF would not heat up past about 65°C. Thats actually equally bad for the gearbox because you need the oil to ideally heat up to about 80-85°C. So I needed to buy and fit an inline thermostat with this and now it works perfectly. The oil gets to about 85°C and the thermostat lets it through to the radiator and you see the oil temp go straight back down to 80 ish. So the radiator works really well. One other word of warning is that the jubilee clips are useless. You need to buy good quality ones. The ones provided just thread with any amout of pressure but once I used decent ones that you could tighten as the fluid warmed up then this has been faultless. No leaks at all.So the cooler is great does the job well. The accessories in the box are a bit rubbish but to be honest I htink thats the case with all of these things.

Great, if a little big for what I needed
Fitted by garage, so can't comment on ease of fitting. Bought for a power steering fluid cooler. Although Mishimoto did a smaller one specifically for power steering, its more expensive and they appear to have the same fitments. Garage had no problems fitting it.What I liked about this one is the angles on the ends, with evenly spaced holes, ideal for attaching brackets to. Felt well made and not that much more expensive than the cheaper options (of unknown quality).Fitted to a VXR8 that developed a leak on the combined steering and air-con radiator. Black car, so garage gave it a light coat of black paint. Looks great, did the job.
