Carter Fuel Systems Carter Engine Oil Pressure Switch (A68301)

I can't speak to longevity, (OK, now I can speak to longevity. It failed today after about 17 months. This vehicle doesn't see much use so it has very limited hours on the switch. This switch isn't cheap and I'm disgusted that it lasted such a short time. This switch serves an important safety purpose but didn't last. I'm a licensed master electrician so narrowing down the problem to the switch was no big issue for me) but I used this switch with an ordinary 12 volt automotive type relay so that it is only carrying the current of the relay coil rather than the full current of the fuel pump. It is doing exactly as designed and my installation is safer than it would be without it.

The contacts were lose so the switch worked intermittently. Drive me crazy because it worked when I tested it with a ohm meter but cut in and out randomly when I installed and connected it. You don't expect a part to not work right out of the box. I expect more from Carter. I found that if I jiggled the connectors that would sometimes connect. I bought it to long ago to return it so I'll try again with something else.

Installed this on my old engine and it works better than those other switches from other brands that I won’t mention.

Perfect replacement on my 1996 bbc, factory switch went out after 21 years and luckily still did its job and killed the fuel pump and saved my motor after loosing 8 quarts of oil.

very well made, comes with everything you need to hook it up (unlike other models). I give 4 stars cause it did not work for my application.
