Camped for 9 days with and it worked perfectly!
Once you get the hang of the safety cut off features, this thing is great! We are a family of 8 and we love to camp for weeks at a time. It sounds lame, but my pet peeve is having to boil water to do dishes. I felt so spoiled on our last trip because all I had to do was run my dish pan full of clean water, turn on the pump and submerge it (sometimes shake it around to get the air bubbles out), turn on the heater, and set the temperature! Hot dish water in just a few minutes! It only "failed" on us a few times in 9 days and each time it turned out to be user error. Once I forgot to plug in the power cord for the pump unit. Once the water level got too low for the pump so it shut off the propane. And once it just died... because I forgot to charge it. But we we found out that we were able to run it while it was plugged in to the charger! From then on we just kept it plugged in most of the time. This use hadn't occurred to me before this trip but it was a nice perk... The bath house wasn't too far away but we have younger boys and I wouldn't dare send them alone so, instead of waiting until my husband was back from the store, I just had the kids shower in their swimsuits right there at our campsite. They loved it! And each time, I had to turn the heat setting down because they said it was too warm. I hadn't expected to have the "problem" with a portable water heater. We did a youtube review: [...]

used and damaged product
The media could not be loaded. The product arrived used with missing parts and does not work. I was super excited to receive the product and when I received it I was disappointed to know that I had been tricked into receiving a used product.

Hot Showers again!
My water heater died and is costly to replace, tired of taking cold showers so I looked into portable water heaters, wanted on with small propane tank and rechargeable battery. Coleman unit fit the bill. I read the mixed reviews, watched the youtube videos and purchased. The only negative thing I can say it that it did not come with and ac adapter to charge/run at home. I was able to source one but I also found that the Coleman Powerchill ac adapter works as well, just a 120V to 12V cigarette type adapter for home. Used 4 times out of the box since I had no way to charge it without driving around for several hours. It will deliver scalding water so be careful. There is a trick to get it started just like a regular gas water heater, you have to hold the button down in the pilot position for a few seconds after it ignites to allow the element to get hot enough to keep the pilot from going out. I use a 14 gallon storage container for water, the 5 gallon jug that came with the unit was a bit light for my shower time. Shower hose is a little short but usable, Can't speak to longevity but I am happy to have hot water again. I do use indoors with exhaust fan on and a CO2 detector nearby, obviously despite warnings that is outdoor use only. Bottom line it works, wish I had one when I was a boy scout and camping

A muat have prep
Easy to use and works great for emergency hot water or put it with a 55 gallon water drum, also was able to power it with battery pack since the heat is propane the electric draw is not very much so great for off grid, would have liked the pump to be a bit stronger and the water jug thing that comes with it is junk, but overall a great addition to any prep.

Test before going!
Was excited to have a hot shower while out moose hunting for 2 weeks, opened and assembled before we left, made sure pilot light came on but didn’t run water through it. Got in the field and it would not ignite the heating element! Pilot lite came on fine but unable to switch to heating. Also didn’t like that the only way to charge was a cigarette lighter. Went to Coleman’s website to buy the wall charger and apparently they don’t sell it, despite the manual saying they do. If it had worked, it claims one charge will heat 40 gallons which would be impressive. The water bag it comes with is flimsy and as water leaves the bag it will fall off whatever you have it set on to gravity feed into the “heater”. Finally used a chair with a restraint to keep it from falling, but never could get the heater to work. Looks like standard threads so could probably use a different “tank”.Should have actually ran water through it before leaving but with a trusted name like Coleman we figured if the pilot lit it would be good to go.They could improve the design by recessing the on/off switch. Ours got bumped in transit and was dead when we arrived. On the plus side, it’s lightweight, if it works it would be efficient with heating/pumping 40 gallons on one pump charge.Really wanted to like this product. Returning it.

Better than I thought
I have used this water heater for about three months now serval times a week and it is a good product, the 1 pound gas bottle will last for 10 or more showers depending on the amount of water used per shower the battery will last for a few showers don't know the real number because I usually charge it after every shower but the problem is you can't tell the state of charge of the battery so if you don't stay on top of chagrining every time you use it you can be $hit out of luck. Plus it does not seem to work while charging the battery. this should be fixed.Plus the instructions say the light will flash when charging but it only will flash four times and the goes steady even though it is still charging you don't know when its fully charged and how much of a charge it has so charge it every time or you will probably regret it.

would not recommend
I knew before purchasing, this product would be hit or miss, but decided to try my luck. First unit I purchased the water pressure sensor was defective so I returned it and ordered a second one. That one also had a bad water pressure sensor. I am waiting for refunds now. If you are looking for products similar to this, they are out there! Dont think you have to settle for this brand. I wish everyone the best of luck. :)
