A+ Quality Hl-P5685W Replacement Rear Projection TV Lamp BP96-00677A with 8-Month Replacement

Lamp works great. Was a little disappointed in having to insert the two retaining clips myself - not a huge burden of a task, but the assembly didn't include any retaining washers for the back side of the clips. When one fell out on my way to install the lamp, the tiny spring bounced away and was lost. Fortunately, the clips from the old lamp also fit this one, and I was able to make it work.So go ahead and buy the lamp assembly, but be careful after you insert the retaining clips.

Purchased this for my folks who have a Samsung DLP TV. They were contemplating purchasing a brand new TV until I told them they could simply replace the bulb for a fraction of the cost. Also, as far as picture quality goes, you'd be hard pressed to find a better picture than what some of these DLPs are capable of producing, particularly in terms of a image smoothness. You don't get all that pixelated jumping/artifacting you get with most LCDs on fast moving images. It's a shame they don't make DLPs anymore :(Anyhoot, the item shipped in packaging that was perfect it terms of protecting the bulb inside. The bulb/housing was a breeze to replace. I took a small back panel off the TV, took out the old bulb/housing and plugged this new one in its place. All and all took about 10-15 minutes time. So far, the new bulb works great and the folks now have a bright, beautiful TV picture that's as good as new.*Product was purchased through ProjectorNova**Update on 03/08/13**Bulb just died after less than 4 months of use! The previous bulb lasted nearly 7 years -- you do the math!May purchase another, but not happy to say the least!

The lamp on my Samsung HL-P5685W finally died after about 7 years. I was almost hoping it would have been something more serious, so I could justify getting a new tv, but it was the lamp.I followed the directions with the lamp assembly, opened the back of the TV, vaccuumed and blew out some of the dust bunnies, took out the old lamp (you have to turn the ring on the retention screw), popped the new one in, locked it in, turned on the TV, and it was good as new. Closed the tv back up, went to the menu and turned down the brightness (because the new lamp is BRIGHT) and the TV looks as amazing as it did the day we got it.Very easy for anyone to replace, completely effective, TV works 100%. Oh, and it was a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.Fantastic product, fantastic seller.

Warning: This is NOT a genuine Samsung product. The seller needs to disclose this in the item title! Like you, I saw plenty of 5 star reviews of this item and many 1 and 2 star reviews. I took the gamble and bought this anyway hoping to get a 5 star worth product. Unfortunately, it's getting only 2 stars from me. Like others have said, the lamp's housing is a total piece of garbage. Unlike the original part which is metal, the entire housing on this is made of brittle, slightly misshapen plastic.My specific problems with this lamp are: 1) the TV has two pegs that help the lamp line up with two holes that are on the housing. The holes on the housing are too small and offset just enough that make them not align correctly. I had to use a tool to make the holes way larger so that the pegs can interface them. But by doing that, the lamp housing doesn't align with where its supposed to go inside the TV. 2) The point of the alignment is so that a two-prong plug on the lamp replacement can line up with a two-prong plug inside the TV. The mount for the plug on the lamp is flimsy, loose, and allows the plug to sag. So even if the housing did line up correctly, the limp plug slouches so low that it won't plug into the TV anyway. 3) Upon further inspection, the wire corrected to the rear of the light bulb itself is literally a single, very thin wire. So thin that I'm betting this thing is going to burn out in a month or less. Take a look at the original bulb. Now that's a proper connection.So I was able to eventually install it, but only after pulling some major MacGuyver moves. It works and is plenty bright. But I've only had it for about 3 days as of this review, so who knows how long it'll last. I'm expecting having to have to replace it within a month or two and when I do, I'll be more than glad to pay the 130-plus dollars for a genuine Samsung part. One star for the working bulb. -4 stars for misleading item description, quality, build, and installation.

Great product

Incredibly easy to replace. Housing fit perfectly for my Samsung TV...highly recommend it. At first it didn't seem like a perfect fit but it was. Only took 5 minutes. Have spent between $200-$400 to have this done in the past. Glad I did it myself this time. Included pictures of the part I replaced.

The lamp is MOSTLY what I expected. Unfortunately, while the lamp WAS out in my television, it was not the only thing that went wrong, so I still can't use my television until I source another part. Oh well. ;)

The lamp it's self worked well. Problem was that the housing had the wrong plug in, the bulb was wired incorrectly . I had to remove the bulb from the housing it was sent in , install it in to the original housing from my tv and switch the wiring to match original bulb. Even though the price was very good. If I had not had the resourcefulness to make the necessary changes to make it work. I would have been very dissatified.
