How far do they work indoors with concrete walls in the way?

They work okay but constantly make that static noise and there is no way to turn it down.

Can you add a third one to this?

YES, NO, MAYBE - Can you combine 2 sets and Mama in the kitchen communicates with 3 kids in the back yard? Be serious.

Can these conect to other sets?

Only if they are preprogrammed on the same frequency. My son has a set of these and his buddy has a completely different brand walkie talkie and they are able to talk back and forth from his brand to the nerf brand.

Can you talk normally in them?

If you mean do you have to shout or speak extra loudly, then no. But you do have to speak directly into the walkie talkie while holding in the button. Hope that helps.
