I’ve ordered a couple of times no issue w packaging. A little goes a long way, dissolve in water w a little lemon and rubber/marinate your chicken ; grill or use your crock pot or instant pot. This recado achiote paste is an authentic flavor and better quality than the kind we would buy from Yucatán. Chicken, Turkey or carne asada are perfect w this seasoning. Make sure and make your softened red onions on a tortilla or a salbute… topped w a piece of lettuce, avocado and tomato w Yucatecan Hot Sauce — heaven!

I was suspect about the quality of this recado but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Any type of achiote paste sold at your local stores in the USA has all types of fillers and dye. This paste, however, just the simple ingredients it’s supposed to have. Being someone whose eaten cochinita pibil and many other types of yucatecas dishes, I have to say, this paste is genuinely authentic and high end. Highly highly recommend and grateful it’s available to purchase on this platform. The cost is a little high. But, authenticity and flavor can sometimes be priceless.

Used this as an ingredient to make tacos Al pastor with pork shoulder and the flavor was delicious. Although it made the pork shoulder spicy so maybe I’ll use a little less than the recipe calls for but otherwise great flavor.

I have tried probably half a dozen Achiote Pastes over the years to make presssure cooker carnitas and this stands out as having a fantastic flavor. Much higher quality than my prior pastes.

I have visited Belize many times and wanted to make a traditional dish using this paste. The item was not sealed and had a foul smell like gasoline.
