Spiral - Series 8 [DVD] [2021]

I love this series but Season Eight was somewhat spoiled for me by the English for the hard of hearing subtitles. I really don't want subtitles that tell me a door is opening or closing, there is chattering etc. The description of the Disc stated nothing about subtitles.

One of the best police drama series ever seemingly draws to a conclusion...It is difficult to compare the first few series with 8 as the themes and style of direction have changed a great deal. As the series progress it does become less gritty and graphic (probably to appeal more to a wider audience) - however there is no let up in the quality of acting and storylines. Series 8 has it's twists and turns as and as always there is the unexpected. I don't like the over-use of subtitles - door opens - coughs - sighs etc, completely unnecessary - but doesn't detract overall. Thoroughly enjoyed it, hopefully it can continue in some way as there's little to compare.

All good things come to an end, and so it is with Spiral with the eight and final series. This has been one of the finest shows of its type ever to be brought to our screens. It has been of a consistently high quality throughout and this last series is no exception. Intelligent, exciting (sometimes the tension is almost unbearable), brilliantly acted and superbly produced. Yes, I think they've picked the right time to call it a day - it would be such a shame to see such an excellent series run out of steam and ideas - but, nonetheless, what on earth are we going to find to replace it!

The 8 seasons of Spiral, spanning some 15 years, is an amazing French crime/police series set in those parts of Paris not on the normal tourist patch. Generally, throughout a serious theme is maintained, yet there are ironical moments. Excellent, the 8 series run their course. Great ending. great music for the end credits. If you need something similar yet with a more violent theme there are also the 4 seasons of Bracco.

The saddest time watching what I knew was the end of the best series ever.Gilou, Laure, Bremont, Tintin et al brought so much to my viewing and I will really miss them.It’s rough, tough, dirty work and they were focused on bringing down the baddies whilst maybe getting sidetracked on their personal lives. Engaging. Pathos. Emotional. Brilliant.This is without doubt the best ever series .You must buy it and watch all 8 series from the beginning (I’ve watched a few times and get something out of it each time)HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Got them all from series one. Watching them again! Series eight is very good. The actors/actresses look older ...lol

I did not think I would see anything as good as The Bridge from Europe. This is good very addictive and good acting. Nothing procedural about this. Really recommend you watch from the beginning series one.

Engrenages is an excellent police procedure series set in Paris. Rarely shows the tourist side of Paris but the more grittier side of it. Excellent acting by all the cast. Well worth watching.
