Read with Oxford: Stage 2: Julia Donaldson's Songbirds: My Phonics Activity Book

Great complement to Songbirds reading books
I really like these books. This is our second, and I find it works best to do them towards the end of reading that 'stage'. Each page is based on a different story, so you want to have read that book ideally before doing the page.Things I really like:1. A number of sticker activities, and also a completion sticker for each page.2. A good range of types of activity: match the word to picture, choose the right word, crosswords, etc.3. They require very little actual writing, so my younger reader who is not yet writing doesn't get frustrated by them.Well done OUP!Edited Dec 2019: having now got to the end, I've realised that although this says 'Stage 2' on the cover, the reading books it covers are all the Stage 2 books, and also Stage 3 and most of Stage 3+ (Where is the Snail, etc). This is fine for us as we've just continued to work through the activities as we read each book, but I'd really appreciate a single numbering system from OUP for their reading schemes....at the very least when operating within one series like Songbirds! It wouldn't be that hard to write 'Stages 2 and 3' on the cover.

Very good book for early learning
My missus was given Stage 3 version of this book by the same author, and we were impressed with that but the level was a bit too advanced for her. So, we purchased this one hoping it would be more at her level and we haven't been disappointed. I recommend highly overall.

Ok
Maybe this just doesn’t keep my child’s attention but it was a bit too easy for the same level reading books and there is a lot of time filling activities with colouring and drawing and sticking stickers which is maybe fun for some children but a bit unnecessary and something we prefer to do separately from phonics.
