Barton Nutrition's HealthyGutSupport+ does something I've never seen in a decade of taking both pro- and prebiotics: it lists its ingredients by milligram rather than BCF. As such, I can't really compare this to anything else on the market; it might have 30 BCF, or 5, or something in between, and that's before wondering how much has died off (which is why you should immediately refrigerate this.) The only thing I know is that it is generally ineffective to have a supplement be both prebiotic and probiotic and that these are a little more expensive than average. There are definitely worse combinations on the market and there's nothing particularly bad in this, just that the labeling leaves a lot to be desired. 4 stars.

Barton Nutrition HealthyGutSupport+ works really well for me. I know I am getting the nutrients needed for my body that I may be missing in my daily diet.

Disappointed Wondering how fresh these are with the expiration of 09/22.

I have had issues with bloating and GI issues for as long as I can remember, and I am now in my 40s. I would always be bloated after meals, as if my body was holding on to the foods I would eat, and it wouldn't digest it and would take a day or 2 to finally go down. It was like that for years. I would eat dinner and not be hungry until the next day at lunch or dinner time, because dinner food from the night before was “still in my belly”. And along with that, I have never been regular, going maybe 2 times a week. When I discovered prebiotics and probiotics, they seemed to help some with my constipation. My doctor recommended I take a digestive enzyme blend that he sold at his office with meals, and I did notice an improvement. However, that product was super pricey.So when I found this product, I was excited to give it a try. I liked that it had prebiotics and probiotics included as I love convenience as I’m a busy working mom and the less pills the better. And the digestive enzymes in this one are similar to the ones that I got from my doctor, just less of them. And because they contain digestive enzymes you should only take these with a meal, as they will aid you in the digestion of that meal. The capsules were easy to swallow, I didn’t notice any side effects. I did take them with the biggest meal of the day and I feel they did help as I did not get bloated. I think this is a great product if your looking for digestive enzymes, with an added benefit of pre- and probiotics for a healthy gut.

okay, these are definitely a confusing little supplement. they say they're both prebiotic and probiotic? i know that the probiotic my wife usually gets list the number of cfu, usually in the billions. these list it all in mgs? I'm not really sure why, or even if it matters. it seems odd though that they would list it this way.as far as results, i don't know. my wife was taking these for a month and didn't notice any ill effects so i guess that's a positive?the capsules are easy to swallow and don't have a horrid odor. other than that i cant really recommend them as they didn't do a whole lot.

I've taken these for a couple weeks now, and they do seem to help things move along in the gut. I've not had any adverse reactions to anything in these, however, I do wish they would leave out the magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. I get magnesium from another source, and doubt we need silicon in any form, but they don't tell you the amounts that are in it. The capsules are average sized, and easy to swallow. I do think the positives outweigh the negatives though.*Update* After taking these now for a couple months, I have noticed a difference, and recommend these. I even ordered more, and will continue to take them for the benefit. I wish I knew how much I needed this stuff years ago. I was skeptical when starting these, and didn't think much would change, but I was wrong. I don't know why the price has to be so high though, and that could be a hold-out for a lot of folks.
