No, the amp has a bit of space between the plate and the back of the amp. The amp has never shut down because of overheating.

Q: Would this be suitable for mounting a sonos amp underneath a 3/4” mdf shelf?

I don’t see why not. The amp locks in. Maybe use some double stick tape along with screws.

Q: Do i have to use screws to mount this. anyone use velcro or similar. i have backsplash where i need to mount it and cant drill holes

The weight of this amp might make it a challenge to mount to a vertical surface without screws. Possibly the use of a construction adhesive would work

Q: Is there enough space behind the mount to run speaker cables (2x 14awg) out from the wall?

Thanks for your question. The Amp speaker outputs are on the back of the unit and would be visible and there is space under the bracket but will not handle 14 gauge speaker wire. World Wide Stereo is 40 years old and a proud authorized Sonos dealer.
