Best stuff I’ve ever used and it works!
I never leave reviews but I’m so impressed I absolutely had to!I researched and researched and finally bought this at what I thought was a reasonable price. After spending £1800 on a new sofa set, I needed something intense to protect it from a dog and toddler. One can did the sofa, armchair and footstool 4 times. All I can say is wow! This stuff is AMAZING.The water just rolls right off.Good purchase!

Great Water Protection, But Must Be Reapplied
I bought this to cover the white cushions of a new patio set but hadn't applied it yet when I learned that Scotchgard had come out with a UV protecting version of it. With all the different Scotchgards, it's hard to decide which is the best for a given application. The Scotchgard chart shows that both have the same coverage (except for the UV coverage, which isn't listed.) I decided to buy both types to compare on a natural colored test cloth before using. When dry, both types had equal water repelling properties: the water beaded up and rolled off with no saturation except in the area between and around the two test areas. Because they didn't soak up any liquid, the circular spots became highly visible against the surrounding wet areas. I then poured coffee over each. I was able to blot up 90% of the coffee from each, but small stains remained. This UV version had slightly more staining, but that could have been a factor of how much coffee or the sludge content. I took soap and water to both -- and the waterproof properties were immediately negated. This means that the product needs to be reapplied after cleaning, even after spot cleaning, to return it to its previous water resistant beginning. The Scotchgard should be reapplied as soon as beading starts to falter or at the beginning of each season. In my test, this type was less visible than the UV kind, although neither would look obvious on an entirely treated cushion. Still, because my cushions are white, I decided to use this kind on them. I'll save the other can for my dark blue cushions.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Spot test went fine, but full application faded fabric
I bought this to protect a canvas cotton duck weight fabric on a newly reupholstered loveseat that is kept on my covered front porch. The spot test didn't affect the fabric, so I did the overall application. One week later, my fabric has unevenly faded from a bright fuchsia to a muted pink.

Plenty in the bottle to spray the heck out of anything
Based on other reviews, bought 4 bottles of scotchgard to protect 10 sofa cushions (5= 26”, and 5 smaller for the back). I didn’t need that many bottles. I sprayed twice each side, and ended up using only 2 bottles. It is obvious, cushions do get wet if left outside under the rain. Does the Scotch spray help keep water from being absorbed? Yes and no. I’m furnishing a picture that shows drops of repelled water on a cushion. When that happens, drying the top out is easy and fast. Inevitably, days of heavy rain are just too much.
