Still love it after 2 years of ownership
Updated: I've had this for 2 years and still love it. It's indispensable for keeping my farm animals safe, seeing what's going on around the property day and night. Our setup is 16 cameras with total 2500 feet of cable; The cameras have been out in the rain, snow, ice, summer heat, dust and still work great.Reolink support has been awesome - only needed them a couple of times over the past 2 years -- first was a mysterious config issue which they diagnosed and solved; the second was last week when the transformer went out. We're out of warranty now but they still helped to diagnose the issue and we're back in action.Just having it out of commission for a few days showed us how much we rely on it. Being able to see that all is well inside the barns at 2am - wonderful. Even have a camera on the homing pigeons (yeah) - so fascinating to see them doing their thing when humans aren't around. We still just sit and watch it. If we have visitors, we all sit and watch it. Ok, that may be weird. Here's my original review --Day 3 and I love it. I started intending to buy 1 camera, bought 8, added 4 more. Now up to 12 and figuring out that I need (ok, want) more. My use is for farm cam to keep an eye on animals, so night vision/audio/POE and being affordable enough for multiple locations were my key purchase requirements. Has already brought invaluable peace of mind, and is just plain fun to watch (yes, we sit watching the security cameras). The color image is very nice; the night vision is great. I have it inside a goat barn, horse barn and pigeon loft and it is very clear even in nighttime low light (when it goes to black & white). I don't know that it would be mug shot level quality, but I do know I can tell which goat is being bad in the dark goat barn now. Also have it on several outdoor areas, where it's color late into the evening.Instructions are simple, but too simple and lacking some detail I would have liked; would have been nice to note somewhere that password needs a number (and special character?). Without any error message, that was just trial and error. Kind of a bummer for first experience with it, but once I was through that bit, everything else was so easy. POE is the way to go. Can't believe I even pondered on that for a day or two like I did. Installing a camera is literally 3 screws, drilling a hole for cable if needed, plugging in the cable on the camera to the ethernet cable, then the ethernet cable to the DVR - done! The DVR defaulted to auto add, so wait a few seconds and the new camera shows up. Maybe I'll put it on the internet sometime (and I can see from other reviewers that can be a project), but for now, straight out of the box and not connected to my network does exactly what I want. Some other notes --1. Another reviewer noted that the trick to audio is to make sure the DVR is set to record audio in addition to the camera being turned on for audio - very helpful.2. I dropped one camera (yes I did) and it wasn't damaged at all. These seem sturdy.3. After figuring out the 3-way articulation, it was easy to set up cameras pointing exactly where I wanted them. Though I went through a phase where things were at various angles (kind of modern art) then realized the barrel rotates too so now everything's level.4. The packaging was hilarious. Did they have a competition to see how much equipment would fit into the smallest box? Everything was well packed and nothing was even out of place. It was just the densest packing job I've seen for a while.5. Really glad I got the 16-channels because now I realize that everything needs to have a camera on it.... meadow, woods, pond....how did we get by without this?6. The night vision gives such a peace of mind; that was one reason I bought this particular camera system. These cameras have 36 IR LEDs, so more than the usual. An added bonus (other than not having to go out to the barn at 2am to check on them) is being able to see the amount of animal stuff that happens when humans aren't around.... fascinating

Great home system - REALLY Easy Setup!!!
Received promptly with two extra dome cameras, as ordered. This is my third system - same location, just keep upgrading to new, better technology. My initial reaction is that this is a great system for home surveillance. I haven't disconnected and replaced the existing one yet but it should be easy as I was already using Ethernet cables (but I had to put converter baluns at each end - now I can just remove those and use existing cat5 and cat 6 cables). But I have fired it up on my desk and connected it to internet and all 10 cameras to be sure all was working.I have to say, while I'm pretty techie and have set up two prior systems, I was AMAZED at how simple and fast it was to set this up for access on my home network PC's, and on my iPhone and iPad. I used a DDNS internet setup in the past but did not need it for this system. It basically just set itself up once I downloaded the PC program and the iOS apps. I refuse to buy anything that has to use the manufacturer's website for internet access - with or without a fee. This works purely over internet with no need to go through REOLINK's servers - perfect! Some other popular brands are not so flexible.Cameras appear way more clear and sharp than my existing system. I ordered 2 extra cameras - the RLC-422 dome cameras with zoom. I have zoom cameras now but you have to use a small screwdriver at the camera to change the zoom to suit the location. I was surprised to find that these can be zoomed remotely using the software. Very nice - and focus adjusts automatically when zoom is changed.Came with virtually everything I needed - you'll want to get a small monitor to connect to the NVR (I got a lightweight 21.5" HDMI full HD monitor for about $100 that sits nicely on top of the NVR) as my existing one was ancient technology.I did upgrade the NVR firmware to one released less than a month ago - very easy to do but be aware that it will take around 45 minutes with no indication of progress. I was about to e-mail their support when it beeped that it was done and then re-started. Had to re-enter all of the set-up info. so do this before you get too far into things. So far, I'm very happy with this purchase, especially for the price - a good value compared to other more advertised brands.
