Learn German the Fast and Fun Way with Online Audio

Got this book as a simple refresher for the little German I knew from 30 yrs ago. the book is helpful, but the cd with my copy only works on my laptop not any other of my players.

Excellent way to start learning German for the beginner. Clearly written and it doesn't assume any prior knowledge of the German language.

Purchased for a refresher class. Although it is cursory, it quickly gives confidence to read and pronounce German.However, this 4th Edition does not match the 3rd Edition; leaving half the class bewildered during class dialog participation. In particular, stories do not match from revision to revision. Phrase changes to 4th edition contain more unusual terms compared to those the 3rd edition; phrases over which my native German-speaking teacher made quizzical faces. Incidental changes are mistakes in the 4th edition; although it was right in the 3rd edition. Why change if it was right?

Lots of pictures. Topics nicely grouped. Easy to understand if you have already had some German. A little old fashioned in the words used. Should have edited out the errors better. Did not like the audio. It gives you the pronunciation, but no thinking or learning promoted. For outstanding audios, I use the Pimsleur method of learning German. Pimsleur method really makes conversation easy and fluent and it has 5 levels to choose from, and the words used are very current as to what is being spoken today in Germany.
