Radio Flyer Classic Red Dual Deck Tricycle

I put the measurements for my kid down because so many people say that their 4 year old rides it, but 4 year olds come in a ton of different sizes. For my little 3 year old, this works well and I can tell that it will be good for at least 2-3 years. For the people that were posting that it tips over easily - it's a bike. Proper head protection and arm/leg protection should be worn. Also, tricycles tip over. My 3 year old can't go fast enough yet to test the tipping over, but I am sure it will happen. I'm not worried. Tricycle arrived in great shape, no marks or scratches. Assembly took about 15 minutes (mechanically inclined) and required no special tools. The bell is great and the tassels are a cute touch.

We bought these for our daughter when she was 18 months old, and as we expected from reading the other reviews, her legs were too short for her to reach. She still loves scooting around on it with us pushing her from behind, and gets a kick out of ringing the bell on the handle. We chose the tricycle for it's classic look, and we love the design, durability, and cute accents of the streamers and bell. We can't wait until she is older and can reach the pedals so that she can ride it around; it is a great tricycle that we believe will grow with her. Assembly is pretty straightforward. My husband usually assembles these types of things, but I was able to do it all in under an hour based on the instructional manual!

I purchased this bike back in June for my little guy's second birthday. He is tall for his age and was 3ft at the time but this bike was a little too tall for him even when the bike was at the shortest setting. He loved the bell and I know he will enjoy it more next spring but he did get some use out of it. The 5 stars is for the durability/quality and ease of putting it together (grandpa did it over a cup of coffee and the morning news in about a half hour). I do think it is a well made bike and perfect for a toddler but my only recommendation would be to wait until a child is 3 even if they are a little bigger for their age.

I really wanted to like this bike (well, trike). We got it for our 4-year-old daughter, who loves to ride around outside and even inside the house. And she loves red, and she loves tassels, and she loves ringing bells. And for us, well -- Radio Flyer is classic! We couldn't wait to give this to her, and we imagined all the fun she was going to have, and the memories she would have of this really cool, classic bike. This was our Christmas gift to her; her face lit up like our Christmas tree when she unwrapped it and saw it. Of course, we had to assemble it first, and that's where I noticed that it wasn't as well-designed as I thought a "classic" should be. - The main bar that mates with the dual-deck platform didn't go in smoothly; I had to use a rubber mallet to pound it slowly into position. But the guide clamp was tight, so it scratched up the nice red paint on the main bar. - Once the bar was in place, the holes for the 2 screws to bolt it into place didn't line up properly. I had to put on the first screw, and then wrestle with the deck a little bit, so I could get the holes aligned, and put the second screw through. I was expecting a bit more precision in the manufacturing. - The front wheel guard was slightly misaligned, relative to the wheel itself. - The front wheel has a plastic stem that serves as a guide and a limiter for how far you can turn the wheel in either direction, by sliding into a slot/groove, but the plastic stem doesn't seem that sturdy. I can imagine that thing snapping if the wheel gets turned too far. - The handlebars need some kind of slot or guide, to keep them properly aligned with the front wheel. As it is, it relies on the clamp and the hatching on the base of the handlebar. With enough force (and not actually that much), it was possible to misalign the handlebars and the wheel. - The bell is a little hard to ring, for little hands. Our daughter actually has to stop pedaling, and use both hands to ring the bell. - The way the seat is attached is pretty iffy. Considering that it's holding the rider's weight, the bolt that tightens/locks the seat into place from just one side doesn't seem like enough. It would be better to have a bolt go all the way through, and through a hole in the base/stem of the seat. We were able to get the bike assembled, but I just couldn't let all these design/build issues slide. We let our daughter ride it, but I make sure to tighten everything each time before she goes for a spin. It shouldn't have to be that way. Overall, it still looks good, and every bit the classic red Radio Flyer. But it's better to look at than to actually ride, and that's a shame, considering it's a bike. ********** UPDATE: bumping this up a couple of stars, not so much for the product, but for the stellar customer service. Radio Flyer responded to my comments and worked with me to see what could be done to resolve the issues. They offered to send some replacement parts for the parts that didn't fit so well. They also helped me out with a fix (WD40!) for the squeaky rear wheels and now it glides along so quietly, I sometimes don't hear my daughter coming! I still can't give it an overall 5 though, because the handlebar mating design really is a flaw -- it should have a more solid lock -- and the seat stem being supported only from one side also seems like a design flaw. But I can't say enough about how great the customer service is. 6 stars!

We bought this trike for our son because it was a little bigger than others we looked at. He is tall for his age and we wanted something that would last until he was ready for a two wheel bike. It is very sturdy (heavy) and reminds me of the trikes we had when we were little. My husband had no difficulty assembling it. It did have an odor to it when we opened the box, sort of a plastic or maybe paint smell. It went away quickly and wasn't a problem. Overall, it is sturdy, seems to be easy to pedal and my son loves it.

My sister bought it in red & my 20 month old adores. She keeps ringing the retro bell on the handlebar. This is a very well-made CLASSIC bike complete with fringes on the handlebars and do not hesitate to purchase it. My super easily put it together in less than 10 minutes. We bought the red ladybug helmet to match the bike & the ensemble is so-o-o- cute. Can't wait until my toddler grows into this trike & can ride around on it outside although she is playing with it in the house constantly already.

This tricycle is definitely the reason my kids want to go outside lately. Outside, yes. I don't allow black rubber tires on my floors. Earlier reviewers mentioned loose packaging. I got this trike undamaged and well packed, so Radio Flyer appears to have listened. It doesn't look like a contemporary kid's toy. It looks like something I might have ridden as a small child many years ago. Maybe it is sneaky of me, but I found it convenient that the place they print "Made In China" is on the annoying safety decal where they say you have to wear a helmet and various other things I didn't bother to read. The decal is top center on the main tube. It peels off reasonably easily without damaging the paint, and a little odorless mineral spirits (paint thinner, charcoal lighter) takes off the residual glue.

Meine Tochter hat das Dreirad mit 3,5 Jahren bekommen - und war vom ersten Augenblick an 'verliebt'. Das Dreirad sieht einfach super aus und fährt toll, es macht einen sehr stabilen Eindruck, nix klappert, alles ist sehr hochwertig verarbeitet. Obwohl meine Tochter mit ca 1,02 m sehr grossgewachsen ist, ist der Sattel noch in der niedrigen Höhe - da ist noch ordentlich 'Luft nach oben' und ich hoffe, dass sie das Dreirad auch mit 5 noch fahren kann. Bin gespannt, wie es sich mit zwei Kindern fahren lässt - einer auf dem Deck stehend - der Praxistest steht noch aus, Fazit: Kaufempfehlung !
