Nice support; more sacral than lumbar
Your attitude toward this is going to be about how it feels to you; it feels very good to me. I'm quite tall, so in my case, the more sacral support that this provides works. Your experience will vary with your own body.Installation is really no big deal. I'll answer the questions I had that the installation videos that one can find online didn't answer for me; hope that'll be useful to someone. The kit will ship with two clips; the more substantial one is for pre-2014 chairs, while the smaller one is for chairs manufactured after 2014. It'll be obvious which one you need. I found it much easier to mount the clip before making the hole in the fabric; in this manner you know exactly where the hole needs to be. To make the hole, use a pencil -- what you're trying to do here is just enlarge an existing hole in the fabric, not cut it, so the increasing radius of a pencil point works well. You then remove the pencil, poke the cable through and the fabric will re-close around it. Finally, there's a mystery piece of plastic, vaguely U-shaped; this is called the 'applique'. It rolls around the back of the seat pan, from the top, straddling the cable, and clips into place.Overall, a very comfortable upgrade, and actually quite easy to install.

Go for it! Well worth it
What can I said, it is an original Herman-miller product. It looks a little bit intimidating to assemble at first, but it you follow the step by step instructions, you get it done in about 15 to 30 mins, just find something comfy to seat on the floor. It performs like it should be. I decided to upgrade my 4+ years Aeron after getting tired of pulling back in at least once a day the other back support that came with the chair. Been an original product, looks stock and color match.I strongly suggest you to also invest in the headrest. My chair not only is extremely comfortable (best investment I ever made) but with the head rest looks executive instead of secretarial since you can find the same model in many banks now. I can only wish now to have a chair just like this on my car!Best of luck!

Stays in place unlike the other lumbar style, but is low
Other style provides better support, but is constantly coming loose. This one stays in place and looks better.

This is much better than the original lumbar (I've gone through two of them). The original Herman Miller lumbar tears apart at the ends (I'm actually a fairly thin-build person so I was surprise that my body weight was too much for the original lumbar to handle. This newer model lumbar adds an adjustment knob to the side of the chair frame to adjust how far out the lumbar pushes. It does NOT adjust up/down (it would be nice if I could adjust it up just slightly higher.) Had it had a height adjustment, I'd have given them 5 stars. It was mostly easy to install but teasing the end of the lumbar adjustment cable through the fabric took several attempts. They suggest you use a wood pencil to spread the coarse fibers of the chair fabric apart to make it easier to insert the cable -- this does NOT tear the fabric because the fabric tends to want to return to it's original shape -- meaning if you don't get the cable threaded through quickly the hole you opened up will close back down again.
