I have two Gameboy Advance systems: a GBA and a GBA SP. The cable has a little switch that you can change the cable mode between GBA and GB/C mode. Due to differences between GBA and GB/C games requiring different hardware, normally one would need two different types of link cables to ensure that GBA games connect to each other and GB/C games connect to each other. I shouldn't have to say that GBA games cannot connect with GB/C games. The believe the theory behind this product is that one can use this cable with any combination of GBA and GB/C systems and have connectivity work fine between all of them as long as the switch is in the correct position. This would eliminate having to buy two different cables. My initial tests with two GBA games work perfectly with the switch set to GBA mode.When I tried to battle and trade between two GB/C games (Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Crystal) with the switch set to GB/C mode, it didn't work. They would see each other at first and prompt to save and etc., but they simply wouldn't connect properly and the connection would time out. I tried multiple times to resolve this issue, but I couldn't get the games to connect. The cable might work if I also had two GB/C systems with the switch set to GB/C mode, but I don't have two GB/C systems to test this. Perhaps my cable is faulty and the GB/C mode is broken? Perhaps the product was only designed to work by having GBA mode only work with GBA systems and GB/C mode only work with GB/C systems despite the GBA's ability to play GB/C games? I don't know. In any case, I would recommend avoiding this product and buying two different cables instead if you seek full compatibility.

Not an SP or advance compatible cord. Plugs do not fit nor stay in. Just go to the actual link cable and order from Tony's Extensive Game Collection. He's got the authentic cord.

Does not work for Pokémon colosseum or XD so stay away.
