Mudlarking: The Sunday Times Bestseller

A wonderful book
What a wonderful book, full of interesting facts and insights brought to life into a world gone by. The descriptions of how life used to be and how people lived, dug up (literally) and shared to the reader with an in depth knowledge and passion. I would thoroughly recommend this book to everyone but especially to people who live near the River Thames, a beautiful book which I will read again and again. The only downside, there were no illustrations within the book. However the covers of the book contained some beautifully hand drawn pictures of artefacts that are talked about within the book. Waiting for a sequel!

One of the best mudlarking books.
This is one of the best books about mudlarking in London UK. It's a very special place to do that since it's a city with a LOT of history plus the river is tidal. The ebb and flow of the tides constantly reveals new finds. The author has done mudlarking for 20 years and provides many interesting stories about what she has found.

Enjoyable read
The book follows the tidal Thames with each chapter focusing on a specific area of the river. Along with descriptions of her own finds, the author weaves together a wonderful array of local history and thumbnail sketches of historic/modern characters who contributed in their own way to mudlarking on the Thames. There is a small section of photographs showing a number of mudlarking finds. Have found it a perfect bedtime read.

I didn’t think I would enjoy this book which I had been given as a gift - but I have been engrossed! So much information, history - so beautifully described and written
