Strong, Food-Safe Poly Chamber Pouches
These pouches are the non-BPA, cost-effective way to vacuum seal foods, clothing, whatever into a low moisture/low oxygen environment for storage. Some compression results as air is vacuumed out, so more of whatever can be stored in cartons or on shelves. I use mine in the kitchen, with a VacMaster chamber vacuum sealer. This is the way to extend the freezer life of fruits like cherries and blueberries and strawberries without creating the environment that leads to internal frost and freezer burn. I use the sous vide method to cook appropriately: these pouches stand up to anything but sharp edges on bones and the like. Double-pouching or using the company's 'Bone Guard' sheets resolves this problem. A properly sealed pouch withstands temperatures below the boiling point of water (the limit of sous vide water bath techniques.) The pouches withstand constant temperatures below boiling for days (three days in my longest 'cook.') At that point, moderately sharp kitchen shears easily cut through the pouch. I would gladly rate this product as FIVE STAR, if not for the durability issue with 'sharp' or hard bone edges.

great product
We use our chamber vacuum nearly every day. When I purchased it (Vacmaster VP112) I also purchased 1000 12x14 bags with the idea of making whatever size bag I needed from those bags. For large jobs the 12x14 bags were perfect for our particular chamber vacuum. But as time went by the process of making smaller bags became a hassle and I began studying what size bag would be the right size smaller bag. At first I thought the 6x8.5 would work, so I made a few samples from the larger bags. Uh uh...it was just the right size for a serving of salmon or cod but too small for a steak or chicken breast. So then I tried 8x10 samples and found them to be the best compromise.I ordered 500 of this size and my wife and I are pleased. We bagged salmon fillets and sliced carrots for sous vide and found the size a bit large for the salmon and just right for the carrots, a good compromise.These are high quality 3 mil bags and they sealed up perfectly on our VP112 set for a 6 second seal. We'll buy them again when we run out in a couple of years.

a great product
I began buying these pouches about 7 years ago for my Sinbo vacuum sealer. They are excellent and have never lost their vacuum when sealed properly. I am just ordering my second large box. Over the years I have vacuumed packed more of these pouches than I can count of freezer-preserved garden produce, fresh meat and and fruit purees. My husband even sealed water in the pouches. Of course we own a great vacuum sealer, too.

Sturdy but small
Only holds about 2 lbs of ground pork. Small but sturdy would buy again just for small portions

The short side opening is a big plus
It was time to replace the original bags that shipped with my VacMaster - Ordered the same size 8 x 10 them came with my sealer and was surprised that these are open on the short side (opening on the 8" side) - The short side opening is a big plus .... fills better and seals firm on the first pass - Great for sealing liquids - Highly recommended
