It is used in 3 ways: it is a lever that will pry Lego pieces apart (use two, top and bottom to separate directly attached plates), the handle comes to a flat edged point that can be used as a wedge to pry into pieces that already have a crack accessible, and thirdly it has an axle point sticking up in the center for poking axles out of axle holes.

HI, It is genuine LEGO but it is not the original brick separator 630. It is the new version - 96874. It works much better than the older one and comes very much in handy :) - Josephine
