Hdd-ps6, can i turn on & off hdd(s) while the computer is running?

Yes ... That is what it is for. It has nothing to do with the fan. It will disconnect and/or reconnect the HDD from the power and the SATA port. I use it all the time.

How long are the power cables? Are they all the same length?

its an ambiguous question. There are power cables to the switch and there are power cables to the drives, assume you mean to the drives, there are 2 cables to the drives with each cable having 3 connectors, the 3 connectors cables are different length by about 6 inches. I have a huge case, and no issues with length and my drives are on the opposite end of the case where the switch module is. The cables are all tied up so I cant go in and measure lengths
