Eazypower 81291 1/4" -20 Thread Hanger Bolt Driver (1 Pack)

I purchased this hanger bold driver head for my Dewalt. I use it to make bird perches. I wanted something sturdy that I could easily drill in 1/4 inch by 3 inch hanger bolts to a wooden rod. This was the only one offered on Amazon and my local hardware store didn't carry any- so I ordered it on a whim and thought I'd try it out. It does the job well. It fits securely into my Dewalt drill with absolutely no issue. It's made of thick durable metal that will easily last the rest of my life.For my 3 inch screws it works great- as they have about 35 threads (guestimating) and this driver has 20 threads. It goes down on each bolt end very easily and fits securely. It drills the screw into the wood with absolutely no problem. My only issue comes from the fact that on a rare and random occasion sometimes the bolts will stick in the head. I'm not sure if this is normal- as I've never tried any other hanger bolt head before. 99% of the time the bolts don't stick and are easily removed. But every once in a while a bolt will randomly get jammed in the head and takes a lot of twisting with a pair of pliers to get removed. Using pliers ruins the threads on the bolt, which ruins my product. It's kind of irritating and I'm not sure if it's due to the bolt being made faulty or the driver being made faulty- but either way, sometimes a bolt sticks and needs to be removed with force.Like I said a large majority of the time, though, the bolts don't stick. They drive easily and sturdy. This driver is easy to clean- and because I am using it with small wood chips sometimes I need to wash it quickly. I just dunk it in hot water and let it air dry. Works great. It's heavy, strong, large, and doesn't easily get lost. Unfortunately I've never used a different hanger bolt driver head- so I have no way to compare it to others and give a 100% honest review. But for my experience with it it's been pretty dandy thus far.

Got hanger bolts? Then you're going to need a bit to drive them with. This one seems plenty sturdy. The materials seem strong enough to stand up to a lot of use. The thing with hanger bolts it that you'll inevitably shear off some threads or otherwise go too deep because there's no real gap between the end of the wood screw and the start of the machine screw / bolt. I haven't broken this bit yet, so it must be pretty good.

Don’t bother. Just don’t. After reading reviews I decided to try using wd-40 on the driver before threading the bolt. I still can’t get it off. Completely useless. Had better results just putting the hanger bolts directly into my driver and screwing them in. Fortunately for me the threads in the middle of the bolt didn’t matter for my project.

Works good.I would recommend using along with a pair of Needle Nose Pliers, to grab/restrain the bolt when running this tool in Reverse to remove the tool from the installed-bolt. Otherwise the tool tends to stay attached to the bolt, and the bolt unscrews itself when running the drill backward.

Makes the job a lot easier using power tools.Put on two nuts on the stud before drilling. Otherwise, the driver will bottom out and eat the first few threds. After those threads are gone, you either gotta fill it a bit with hardning compound and then use a die to restore.

Works very well; easily drove hanger bolts into Jatoba table legs without any issues. I thought it may be difficult to remove this after driving in the hanger bolt but I was pleasantly surprised when it easily unscrewed each and every time!

The bolt driver worked as expected and was very easy to use.

EXACTLY the right tool for the job. Had to replace a dozen or more hanger bolts that hold hurricane sheets when I replaced wood panels. Fussed with a couple of lame attempts using two nuts, etc., but this is perfect for the job. Very pleased and well worth the modest price.
