Absolute Fourth World by Jack Kirby Volume 1

Great purchase worth every single dollar so glad I bought it! Clearly a 5/5 star purchase and I would recommend it to anyone . Then why am I giving it a 2/5? BECAUSE AMAZON FREAKING LIED. They said that the absolute edition included everything which is not the case this is only the first half of the 4th world saga. Which is great however if you’re looking to by this because you think it’s everything just be warned that it is not. If they changed what they said then great ignore this but as is keep in mind that this isn’t everything

Despite what other reviewers might think, the matt paper suits Kirby's work better than glossy stock. The thinking behind it is to give the book a retro feel, presenting the comics as close as possible to how they appeared originally. It's ideal for this style of comic book colouring too, as on glossy stock the colours would appear too bright. This is the kind of paper these comics were designed for.The stories themselves are pure Kirby unleashed! Unlike many of today's slow-paced "decompressed" comics, these stories use the superhero comics medium properly and every page crackles with energy and life. Never mind the sometimes corny dialogue or occasionally goofy characters; that's what great superhero comics are all about! And none come greater than the work of Jack "King" Kirby!A good bargain for a 400 page book. Roll on the next three volumes!

Die Ausgabe ist sehr gelungen, Kirby-Fans werden ihre Freude haben. Die Gesamtausgabe wurde vieldiskutiert wegen der Papierqualität, die eher schlecht ist: meines Erachtens nach ist das aber so gewollt. Der Forderung der Fans nicht nachzukommen die Comics auf Hochglanz zu drucken ist für mich völlig richtig, denn was der Leser hier in den Händen hält ist fast schon so etwas wie ein Replika der Originalausgabe, die eben eine bescheidene Papierqualität hatte! Aber keine Angst: die Seiten sind widerstandsfähig und die Farben fest aufgedruckt, das Buch ist gut gebunden - alle diese Mankos, die in anderen Foren aufgezeigt wurden, konnte ich nicht finden.Zum Inhalt: die Zeichnungen Kirbys sind genial, allerdings: bei Marvel musste/durfte er nicht seine eigenen Stories schreiben und man muss leider sagen, das war auch gut so. Die Stories sind sehr einfach, teilweise fast schon einschläfernd, weil sie auf damalige Ereignisse Bezug nehmen, die heute nicht mehr interessant sind.Wer sich packende Storylines wie bei den Fantastic Four erwartet wird also enttäuscht, die Geschichten von Jimmy Olsen, den Forever People, den New Gods und Mr. Miracle können da nicht mithalten. Aber dafür gibts ja die Fantastic Four Omnibus Ausgabe.

This book is so heavy. The packaging was incredible I could barely get into the box it was so secure. The print is beautiful it came in spectacular condition, my ex-boyfriend loved it before we broke up.
