Where do I even begin? I've been meaning to read this book for years because of the countless recommendations from friends and readers, and now I understand why. It is a beautiful and very heartbreaking story, filled with lessons that will stay with me.. After finishing, I found myself sitting in silence reflecting on my own life. As devastating as this story is, I couldn't help but admire how beautifully it was written. The author's writing is poetic, descriptive and so immersive that I often found myself pausing just to absorb a single paragraph. I ended up annotating this book more than I expected because there were so many thoughts, quotes, and life lessons I wanted to remember. The way the author tells the story makes you feel as though you're living every scene alongside the characters. More than anything, this book taught me gratitude!... for living in a place far from war, for the freedom I often take for granted and for the opportunities many women throughout history were never given and the innosence of little children were taken away... It also reminded me that violence isn't always found on the battlefield but sometimes it exists within the confines of our homes.. It made me think about destiny how we often see great potential in people whose lives are shaped by circumstances beyond their control, and how everything can change in a single moment..

Good book for new readers...
I read The kite Runner and then thought to buy this book...it's very well written,the depiction of historical and story to keep reader occupied...... I am not much of reader but at one point I felt like details became vague and story started to feel like one sided,specially when Laila gets introduced in story......overall good read....
