Gerber Bear Grylls Scout Essentials Kit [31-001078]

I bought this for a few reasons; I wanted a little EDC pocket and I liked that one, but can't get it anymore, I wanted a firm case to make a first aid kit because my EDC Survival Tin has everything covered apart from first aid(not enough room in my old cigarette tin), and finally I wanted the matches and compass for another kit.First impression really impressed by the quality of it as some BG branded gear has iffy quality control, but everything here is brilliant!The knife is good and solid, but is a bit light for "Survival" situations, however is perfect for Boyscouts and the like, same with the compass.The overall kit is marketed as a "Scout" kit and while it does some of it astoundingly (The knife, compass, matches and light) it seems to be more focused on first aid(my reason for getting it), that shouldn't put you off though as with a few adjustments you could make a perfect Scouting kit simply by taking out some of the first aid gear and replacing it with things orienteering; Ranger beads, fire steel, whistle and a map case.That's my take and for the price you get a lot and anyone would be lucky to find this under the tree or wrapped at the foot of the bed.
