Awesom book, awful printing quality
I read this novel digitally and it was so awesome that I wanted to buy a printed one.. I was really disappointed with the printing quality. It's awful, cheap printing and cheap paper.

You never know when your time is up
When some people think of Graphic Novels they think of costumed superheroes and villains doing battle at worlds end…. daytripper (I’m leaving the d lower because I think it is supposed to be) is definitely not one of those types of book. daytripper is more along the lines of Persepolis or The Rabbi’s Cat (both excellent if you haven’t read them).daytripper is, for the most part, set in the real world. We are introduced to Brás. A man who wants to write a novel, but is currently writing obituaries. Not your standard run of the mill obituaries though, the examples given in the book are almost poetic. He clearly has talent that is not being used in the right place.Over the course of 10 chapters or so we see Brás at different stages of life. Each section shows us a defining moment in the life of our character with a bit of a twist. I don’t want to give too much away, but death features pretty heavily throughout.I thought that each and every chapter was incredibly moving and thought provoking. The story coupled with brilliant artwork makes for what is probably the best graphic novel I have read. It is easy to see why this novel won both an Eisner and Harvey award, as well as frequently being named as one of the best graphic novels of the modern era. In fact, the reason I picked up daytripper in the first place is because I googled “best standalone graphic novels” and it came up a few times. While it isn’t a “happy go lucky” type of read I think everyone will find something to love here. Highly recommended.

Hmmmmm
Was looking forward to reading this given the positive reviews from both ordinary readers and professional critics. Sadly I found this a bit of a slog to get through. The layout of the book, which in one way is its USP, is also its downfall, I never really engaged with the characters, there is no plot to speak of and the message of the book is brought home through repetition. I forced my way to the end and the final pages do bring it together nicely but for me the journey wasn’t that enjoyable. The art style wasn’t really my thing, only made worse by the cheap binding and low quality paper.Lots of people seem to like this so maybe it will be your thing.

Excellent work, fantastic art and concept, emotional and sanguine
Awesome graphic novel. One of my favourites. Superbly written and expertly drawn and coloured. I have gone back to this many times for the emotions it invokes and the artistic and creative inspiration.

Printed on unacceptable paper.
This edition (DC Comics; 01 edition (15 Feb. 2011)) is printed on toilet paper. Forget about colors or white. I recommend bying another edition.
