This is the best litter mat I've found so far
As a cat foster mom, I always need litter mats that are truly waterproof for those kitties who don't turn around and end up doing their business out the opening of the litter box. The many cupholes in this mat do a fantastic job of keeping the litter scatter contained; you'll actually have to shake the mat vertically or upside down to get the litter out. Since the rubber is smooth, it's easy to clean and you also won't get crumbs trapped in mat fibers that are impossible to get out. The rubber is heavy and doesn't move around, even for enthusiastic buriers. The only problem I've had is with one cat who likes to chew on things and even though the corners and edges are gnawed on, it hasn't lost functionality. If you have cats who like to chew things, get a couple of the medium size and just overlap them; that way it'll be less expensive to replace (I have several of the medium and large sizes). BTW, the prices here on Amazon are *much* better than the big box pet stores.

Best kitty litter mat i have ever purchased!
I am so glad i found and purchased this mat. It has cut down on litter tracking remarkably. I have hardwood floors throughout my home and have tried various cat litters (picky and unhappy cats with that experiment) so i decided to go back to the litter they like and i dont mind so much but start changing mats. After lots of research, i chose this mat first and love it!! Its soft for both of my cats and super easy to clean too. Best feature is one mat is perfect fit for regular size cat box with plenty of matting to go around for when they kick and bury poos. Its own features catch the litter if its kicked out or off of their paws (helping to keep their paws cleaner so happier cats) and floors have so much less litter to sweep up constantly. I highly recommend for cat homes. My oldest son bought a mat for his home and cat. He uses it in a carpeted area with just as great results... cleaner home & cleaner cat paws & happier kitty.

Get one big enough for the area your cat will actually be using when they get out
I really like the way it traps cat litter and how easy it is to fold it and dump the litter back in the box (or trash if so desired). I just wish I would have bought a bigger one and it really sucks when it gets wet. When it gets wet, the litter on it sticks and looks dirty, so you have to wash it off and then pretty much let it air dry because it's really difficult to dry it yourself. I guess you could use a hair dryer if you wanted. But while my mat is drying, there's nothing on the floor to catch the litter my cat enjoys digging out of the box. but it is very easy to clean and catches a lot of litter.Which brings me to my second point, it catches a lot of litter - as long as your cat jumps or walks back onto it when they get out. If you have a high side or covered litter, no worries. I have a fairly short box with attached sides that my cat easily jumps over every time he wants to get back out of the box. Not that I blame him, I wouldn't want to walk around in it after I went either, but the litter ends up on my floor and rugs instead of the mat. So I recommend getting one that is big enough for the area your cat will actually be using when they get out.

Leak-proof litter mat!
Finally, a litter mat which does not leak and traps the litter so it can easily be rechanneled into the litter box. My elderly cat has a tendency to spread litter all over in front of his box and occasionally misses the box altogether. I previously used the woven plastic type mats which turned out not to be entirely waterproof and which allowed the litter to permeate the mat and end up on the floor. This mat is heavy-duty plastic and has little round indentations which capture the litter and the pee so they do not get spread all over. They will not seep through to the surface underneath, causing a stinky floor. When it is time to clean the mat, I shake it out the door or over a trash can and then spray the mat with either the bathroom shower hose or with the outside hose. It is easy to shake dry over the tub or lawn and then pat dry with paper towels. I think it would work well for an apartment dweller or people like us who have to keep the litter pan in their own small living space. Well worth the cost. Petco sells it through Amazon and I have never seen these anywhere else.Forgot to mention, if the litter trapped on the mat is still dry, just bend the mat in half at the channels running across it and pour the litter back into the box. Very easy and neat.

Technically it Works... Just not for me...
Technically it works as advertised. The litter gets stuck in the holes, so theoretically it would stop litter from spreading everywhere. It's made out of quality rubber, and is easy to clean. My issue however is that in practice it just didn't work for me. The mat is too small to protect the floor from a cat that really needs it. This is for someone who just wants a mat to go under or around the box, to separate it from the floor, or something for their cat to calmly step out on. Anyone with an energetic cat that likes to make a mess, needs a bigger mat. Unfortunately I didn't find out I had a cat that was rambunctious until after making the purchase and trying it out. I would give it less stars but it technically does what it is supposed to do, however I would have preferred to have been forced to buy a bigger mat and spend more money than to waste money on something that is way too small.
