Fantastic Vegan Protein Find
I don't have a problem with soy or gluten, so I am not opposed to products with either, but having another form of vegan protein provides additional flexibility in my diet. These crumbles are fantastic, quick and easy to prepare (requiring only hot or warm water to reconstitute), with an enviable nutrition profile. Yes, the sodium levels appear high, however, the amount is for one cup dry crumbles, which is nearly doubled when rehydrated, and only about 20% of the DV for a low-sodium diet with a 1500mg upper limit...if you can eat the entire serving in one sitting.Perhaps the best thing about them is their ability to retain structural integrity (the crumbles don't form mush or turn to paste) when prepared according to package directions, and their ability to take on the flavour profile of whatever seasonings you use.For those looking to reduce consumption of animal products, this can help in a number of dishes, creating a nearly imperceptible stand-in for ground poultry or pork, and even beef when powdered mushrooms are mixed with the crumbles. For those already abiding by a vegetarian, vegan, or plant-based lifestyle, or those for whom the goal is not to mimic meat, you'll appreciate the versatility this product adds to your repertoire and the ease of preparation. For athletes, especially, you'll benefit from a protein source that adds protein and bulk to your meals without unnecessary cholesterol impacting your overall health.

Good alternative protein
I'm having a lot of trouble with taste and smell for a little bit now. I literally cannot tolerate the taste of poultry, most red meat, fish, or eggs. I ran across this product while looking for alternative protein sources and although I wouldn't say this tastes like the ground beef I used to know and love, this was perfectly tolerable and did not have any bizarre strong taste (not even that grassy bean or pea taste a lot of gluten free bean flours have). The texture was really good - this really does resemble the texture of medium-coarse ground beef. IMPORTANT: I do not believe this product is mostly intended to be consumed 'as-is'. I let it soak in a makeshift homemade Chinese food brown sauce (soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, sesame seed oil, tiny pinch of brown sugar, cayenne, mustard powder, ginger, paprika, black pepper, all-spice, salt) and thought this was pretty good and did sort of remind me of the taste of beef between these flavors. I haven't tried it in spagetti sauce yet, but expect my best results will be to flavor the meat as described above, deain it, then add to my sauce right before eating my portion. (Sorry, I know this sounds crazy - it has been a LONG year with taste issues, lol)

Best plant based crumbles available imo
I used to buy plant boss in local stores, but that is gone from the shelves for some reason. This is a good substitute; it comes without any spices so you can add your own flavors. I use I for ground beef style fried rice and spaghetti sauce.

Good Protein
I do like them as a non-soy protein. They take on the flavor of their marinade. The texture is different for me but I like it. I love that they can be stored on a shelf and rehydrated as needed.

Versatile and easy to prepare
This product is soy free, gluten free, which is hard to find in meat substitutes. They are not seasoned so they are easily flavored with whatever seasonings you want to use, and easily reconstituted. I have used this product in chili and taco dishes so far and have no complaints. If you’re new to meat substitutes, it could take a bit to get used to as it’s a bit more firm than burger, but I don’t mind if at all—especially knowing it is much healthier than ground meat.

Delicious!
I will be using this product all the time from now on as my Meat base for everything that I would typically use hamburger for. It is that good and you can season it however you want it didn’t lose its texture. It didn’t get mushy. I’m very impressed.

Works for limited applications
As a seasoned vegan cook, I was looking to add a few convenience foods in for when I was short on time. This is a great way to add pea protein into savory dishes. It worked well for making a Bolognese sauce. It was okay in adding to a bean chili but I prefer it without the addition. You can hydrate it with any flavor broth so that is a bonus. I just didn't find many uses for it to justify the expense and place in my pantry. If you need to avoid tofu, it can be helpful. I love tofu and tempeh and find them much better in my applications. The crumbles can serve a purpose for others.
