I was born to a family with a lovely beach home on Martha's Vineyard . The Sperry style of these shoes have been de rigueur on the Cape, for over my 64 years. While we originally wore Sperry (only), and it was an unspoken social law, Cole Haan and other higher end shoes broke into Sperry's hold , with private, or prep schools, holding out. Sperry, was an unspoken signal, like a Masonic hand shake. But traditions change. The Hamptons helped that. Especially, when a better shoe maker, that remains understated, enters the market. Ralph Lauren, is the great designer that created a paradigm shift in traditional fashion design, as the old small high-end private label custom stores were killed by the malls. Ralph, stepped into the void. Timing is everything. He marketed to the image of "old money". It was all about the image, but the quality and prices were trimmed. Cole Haan, a consistent tradition, outside the beach fit nicely into the outside New England market. Cole Haan, tried to challenge Allen Edmonds' supremacy in the business shoe market. But the Park Avenue, and Strand shoes, could not be beaten. Especially, as the company is backed by fantastic service, which provides complete refurbishing of shoes. This idea made an excellent pair of luxury shoes, an investment. No matter what had happened to your shoes, they could be salvaged. And generations understood. I was indoctrinated by my father. In the United States, before Italian shoes came into the male population, AE, was king. Cole Haan, brilliantly moved to open up the high-end diversified market. AE, resisted diversity, which gave Cole Haan the early opening to find the market for very well made, and supported, up market shoes with a plethora of designs. When AE realized the need for diversity, they were challenged by a great American shoe maker with diversity and fine leather quality at half the price. I spent my junior year abroad in Florence, Italy. IT was just the beginning of the Italian designer very expensive, exclusive shoes. Thankfully, Italian boat shoes are virtually nonexistent. But the driving shoes nearly killed the American casual business shoe. If you remember the penny loafers, which I still wear, the light Italian shoes wear heavenly on your feet, compared to the penny loafer. Sadly, shoe maker's in the US, mostly turned overseas to make their light weight shoes. In 1988, Cole Haan was sold to Nike. THAT is why several Cole Haan shoes have wonderful Nike soles. This made their shoes so great, for half the price of the now, more casual AE shoe lines. I really like their shoe support. Sadly, in 2013, Nike sold Cole Haan, to Apex LLC, a private equity firm. So far it does not appear that Cole Haan's quality has been compromised. These boat shoes, as I have the canvas in several colors, and the leather in blue, are quite nice, but the supports are average, and the leather pair have nice but not superior leather. It is not expected at their price point. Cole Haan, is a global manufacturing company now. Unlike Allen Edmonds, which remains a US, Wisconsin company. However, Caleres, is now the parent company of Allen Edmonds. They are also the parent company of Famous Footwear. As always, I am hopeful that the shoe maker, my father would tell me , was the best American quality shoes , will remain a great product. It is so sad to see great American companies that I grew up with, become a shadow of their former selves. A great name like Allen Edmonds, and Cole Haan, have sat at the pinnacle of fine footwear for a few years shy of a hundred. We need tradition to mean more than a buck. What are we, if we turn to our most trusted purveyors, only to find the name means nothing. We have sold our integrity for a buck. So far Cole Haan is still a company with integrity. But my experience with Limited Liability Companies, has not bowed well for the future. Let's hope Cole Haan continues to be a proud American company. Created in 1928, by Mr Cole and Mr Hann, in Chicago, Il. & dedicated to upscale quality and craftsmanship . I like these canvas and leather versions of the Penny loafer. My older colors of this exact shoe, made in Vietnam, are good quality and stand the test of time. The soles are good man-made material, and hold up well. Unlike many of the inexpensive knockoffs, these shoes do not squeak. The support, as mentioned could be better, but at this inexpensive price point, the total package is excellent. The shoes are obviously well constructed, And I believe they will last many seasons. In Florida (semi-tropical), they will last a few years.These shoes are a Great purchase, and the price, a great Deal! The Amazon price pits them against shoes of far inferior quality. DO NOT HESITATE. Amazon has these at a great price in blue.Which I am reviewing. I also purchased the all leather uppers in blue. AMAZINGLY,the blue leather pair was a few dollars LESS! Well constructed, and not paper thin leather. I believe they where $31 dollars and change. I wear an 11.5 med width. Like anything you may bring near water , spray with waterproofing. Remember to polish. Even at this price. As my father used to say,"take care of your shoes, and they will take care of you. "

Cole Haan tiene varios modelos, en especial este me gusto mucho pero hay que saber escoger bien la talla porque puede que te queden chicos, que te aprieten o que te quede grandes, las tallas que aparecen en la guia no son las que mismas q ue se manejan aqui en México, así que tendras que investigar por otra fuente que talla es la que te viene.
