I thought I would get both the small one and large one. I only received the large one.They used to come with a manual?

I had an older 1991 version and bought this new one and the front section is exactly the same. Of course, the stars don't change---duuuuh.Be sure to get the Larger one of these because the smaller is hard to read. Great devise for beginners to be able to find what you are looking for in the Night Sky

I bought the 5.5" version which is far too small for beginners but perfect for experienced backyard astronomers wanting a small, quick-reference planisphere. For beginners get that larger one. The larger the better, as they are easier to read. But large or small, these are basic tools that belong in every astronomer's tool kit.Be sure to look up the latitude of your town and buy the right one. I use the 40n version. That means it's good for anyone in the northern hemisphere at around 40 degrees north latitude. If you live much farther to the north or south, or if you are in the southern hemisphere, shop for the appropriate version.Even with all the online tools and computer-based study aids available today, a basic planisphere still can't be beat for learning the constellations and knowing what stars will be visible to you at what time tonight.As to the product itself, it's a very sturdy, well made, waterproof and simple planisphere. These have been around for ages and last for years, You won't go wrong for quality and value on this. But again, for newcomers to the hobby the larger the better.
