I've used essential oils for years as a way of protecting myself from air borne microbes. I fell in love them with so much when I first became a massage therapist over 15 years ago, that I went on to study them in depth and eventually became a teacher of how to use them, with every one of my classes having been approved by the AR State Board of Massage Therapy for continuing education credit to licensed massage therapists. Essential oils are so much more than something we use to make something smell good. They have a physiological as well as psychological effect on the body and if applied to the body can even have a pharmacological effect. Hence, all essential oils should be used carefully and with a bit of knowledge before they are used. I purposely picked this blend to try because I really liked the choices this company put together. Grapefruit and mandarin are calming but still allow you to stay alert. They will both make skin photosensitive, however, so I wouldn't recommend using this directly on the body right before going out in the sun. Cinnamon is incredibly antiseptic but is also high in phenol content, a natural component of it's chemical make-up that can irritate sensitive skin when applied without some sort of carrier oil. Eucalyptus can help open the sinuses and rosemary is wonderful for memory. So what will these do all together? All of these oils are also very germicidal. This blend is wonderful to carry with you when you need protection from others who might be ill. I will sniff this directly from the bottle while at work since it has all of the components one would want - calming, good boost for memory and protection against illness through inhalation. Your sinuses are a key access point for many germs to enter your body and any boost you can give to your immune system through a simple good smelling germicidal sniff will do nothing but help you stay healthier. Essential oils are very powerful and very strong and a little bit goes a long way. A good way to use this blend would be a few drops in a personal humidifier you keep on your desk at work. This company does a good job by packaging your oil blend in an amber bottle since sunlight can degrade it's effectiveness. The price may seem a bit steep, but anyone who uses oils knows that high quality plants, make high quality oils and they are worth the price. I love the smell of this oil is a perfect blend that smells amazing in all the right ways. I have a hard time staying focused sometimes. Its easy for me to get distracted and start feeling overwhelmed. Especially times when my tasks at hand are tedious and long. I am constantly looking for blends that will bring me back to my center and this one is spot on.When I start to feel myself drifting from my tasks I just open this baby up take a few long whiffs and I'm ready to get back to work. This is like a espresso for my brain. The smell is just down right amazing. I am always a fan of grapefruit and cinnamon. I have never been a big fan of clove but they use just the right amount in this blend to compliment the other aromas and make me fall in love with it. This is one of my try carry with me blends. The quality is amazing. I did the paper test on this and it passed there are no extra carrier oils to dilute this. You can tell by the strong aroma that comes with just opening the bottle it is a high quality essential oil blend. Shield blend is made from the best 100% pure oil blends of Cinnamon Bark, Cloce Bud, Eucalyptus, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Patchouli, and Rosemary and helps restore my families immune systems! It smells like Cinnamon and reminds me of the holidays so I love having the scent throughout my home. This blends helps improve circulation and stimulates the nerves while fighting viruses from the outside world. I often add a few drops to my favorite carrier oils (jojoba, almond or coconut) and rub a few drops on my wrists before each day helping get my day started properly giving me that extra boost to get going before coffee. You can use a few drops on your wool dryer balls to make your laundry smell heavenly, or a few drops to relax in the bath.
