These are really nice grinders, especially at the price. I'm wanted one for a mix of chilli flakes and peppercorns - I wasn't sure it would be all that good for grinding the chilli but it works perfectly. And they look great too!

These grinders arrived well packed, without a box.This set is the perfect grinder set. They have a large capacity, but still, look small and elegant. I filled 200grams of salt in one and still had a bit of space.They are easy to fill, with their wide necks. My previous salt&pepper grinders had narrow necks and metal poking out the center, and they were impossible to fill without spilling everywhere.The grinders have a knob at the front to adjust The coarseness of the spices. It's very easy to adjust and can grind the spices very finely.The lids fit well and are great for keeping the spices fresh, I also sometimes use the lids to hold the grinded spices, by twisting the bottle while the lid is still on, and use the grinded salt/pepper from the lid.They are a good shape to hold and twist easily.They are made from stainless steel and glass and can be washed in a dishwasher. They come with a small brush to help clean the grinder.I can't think of any negatives. They can even be considered eco friendly as they arrived with minimal packaging, and will hopefully save me using many disposable grinders in the next years. The grinders arrived quickly via Prime delivery and come assembled and well packed in cardboard and bubble wrap. The lids and grinder mechanisms are wrapped in brushed stainless steel with plastic inners and a ceramic grinder core (pics 1-3). The lower screw top containers are glass and will hold about 6oz or 170g of pepper or coarse salt. The package is completed with a useful wire and bristle cleaning brush and a service card with contact details (pic 4).These grinders are quite large, not excessively so but it is good to know what you are dealing with. They measure roughly 13.5 cm tall and 6.5 cm in diameter narrowing to 4.5 in the middle (Pic 1).In use the grinders work well and sit in the hands well as you use them. The grind is adjustable from fine to coarse using the black plastic wheel in the centre of the grinder head (pic 3). This is a useful addition feature. The mechanism works very smoothly and gives the impression of being well made and built to last a good long time. We have in the past had several Mason & Cole condiment sets and to be honest they were not all that satisfactory. Firstly the finish scratched, corroded or tarnished and secondly the grinding mechanisms broke or ceased to work after 12 months or so. These I think and going to be much better and seem to have avoided the obvious design flaws (weak plastic parts) of the afore mentioned Mason & Coles.Since the demise of the last condiment set we have been buying salt and pepper grinders from a well know German owned supermarket. These cost about £1 each and come filled with either 100g of salt or 50g of pepper. The salts are not refillable and therefore not very good for the planet. The peppers can be refilled with a little brute strength and ignorance but the grinding mechanism is only good for 1-2 refills before it stops working.The grinders cost £9.99 for the two, so about £5 each and should last you at least a couple of years, (although obviously time will tell). You have to buy your own salt and/or pepper but our local green shop sells it in bulk out of a jar - cheap and very good for the planet. So my argument is these will look nicer and save you money over the long haul and be much better for the planet in the process.I think these are great. They look nice, work well, give you different 'grind' options and should stand the test of time much better than those commonly available alternatives with cheap plastic or plastic and metal parts that in my experience tend to fail all to easily.Highly recommended. These have already established their place on our dining table and you can even give them names if you want. I have discouraged suggestions that we paint faces on them and make them hats!! Perhaps Simon and Paul - no no no I am not getting drawn in! or possibly Jules and Sandy (dot, dot, dot, dot).

I love these grinders, they hold much more than you think too. For size comparison I've put a standard smaller pepper grinder that are widely available and are just a little large in height than Schwartz herb and spices. You can see that these grinders are not too tall but are wider. They unscrew easily to refill and there's a little dial that you can turn to give a finer or coarser grind. The tighter the dial the finer the grind, thus is great because I like a coarse grind on a pizza or over chips but a fine grind on my poached eggs.When grinding its a lovely smooth action with no annoying resistance. The snap on covers fit securely and prevent damp or dust gathering inside the dispensing part.When I filled up with peppercorns I used almost three of the same one in the photo that I used to show the size, I had two new ones as well as an almost full one and decanted them.I'm so pleased with these, they look lovely and work better than I hoped.

Easy to clean simply turn the dial to adjust for fine or course grains and have a wide opening permitting easy refill.Quite sizeable comparitively, with a smooth action and they look unobtrusive on the table.

I like these grinders. They were well packed. These were easy to fill with wide opening. it holds 6oz salt and pepper. Comes with cleaning brush so it was easy to wash. the lid and bottle can separated. grinder works well paper and salt grond with ease just do grinder upside down and twist the knob. It has steel base with stainless steel cover wich keeps moisture and dust proof. can adjust coarseness by turn the dial clockwise can do finer or coarse ground. These grinder are perfect size and very usefull.
