A Christmas Carol

there were differences in the book's story to the films i've seen, and i prefer the book's version. i must confess, i'm over fifty and this is the first dickens book i have read. i might have a go at another novel by him in the new year. i love the way he describes things, and brings his characters to life, without going on forever about it.the only complaint i have is the type was too small for me to read. i obviously need to go to the opticians.

Charles Dickens' short novel which explores the spirit of Christmas through the life of Ebenezer Scrooge.Everyone knows the story, surely. Although set in Victorian London the story and message is timeless.This edition contains an interesting introduction which explores the life of Dickens and the story itself.

All the other Dickens novels we have purchased from Wordsworth contained the original illustrations from the standard Chapman & Hall edition. This “Christmas Carol” edition has a plethora of illustrations by other “artists” that are most inappropriate. Cannot recommend this product.

Dickens is one of my favourite authors and I knew the Christmas Carol story, but I had never actually read this book. I hadn’t realised that it is quite short, but packed with interest, and I found it a really good, page turner, read.
