Mimi writes, I buy
I love Mimi Thorrisson. I've been a longtime follower of hers. I love how she makes everything look effortless, the grace with which she lives life, how she approaches motherhood. This was her first book and the one I bought last after her newer two. I met her at a book signing in Canada for French Country Cooking and she had her then baby with her in the store. She's as authentic as they come. Very down to earth, hardworking, simple. When I asked for parenting advice she said to just roll with things (paraphrasing), to be flexible and easygoing. She's right. She deserves every ounce of success she has. She's made a successful life involving her children by default and not making them feel like an obstacle. This book is simple but powerful, full of recipes that get you excited to discover ingredients in new ways, to cook, to attempt to grow them yourself. She has a way of writing that invokes the most beautiful imagery, the most serene atmosphere. She is more a storyteller that happens to also cook well. Pictures are beautiful and complementary in nature. I'm looking forward to anything else she puts out. This is high quality writing and cookery in a sea of "dime-a-dozen" cookbooks.*My only critique is a bit shallow and that is that this book is much taller and designed differently than the newer two I bought so when sitting on the shelf they don't look like they're from the same series.

Lindo livro.

Lovely book
Having thought twice about buying this book after reading about it in a Sunday newspaper, I looked at the Amazon reviews which rated this book so highly and decided to be extravagant! Lovely photographs depicting Mimi's life, family and cooking are an essential element and her accounts of her life are well written and interesting. The recipes frankly seem incidental but really create a book that is delightful to use. On my table at the moment as I'll be using one of her recipes tomorrow.
